Guages in Auto truck

I have a 2001 Auto, and was thinking of places to mount a trans temp and pyrometer guage. I was thinking you could mount them behind the massive drink holder, so that when you fold the drink holder up, the cup holder part goes around the guages, and when you open the holder, your guages are exposed. Has anyone tried this? I'm thinking digital guages might be easier to read at that location. I don't like guage pods and want a clean out-of the way location. Any other ideas?

<font color=blue> Heres an idea - Mount a digital SPA EGT & Boost gauge in the "cubby" hole next to the radio. Mount a transmission temp gauge where the ashtray resides but have to were when you close it the ashtray covers the gauge up. I think that is the cleanest look your gonna find. I think if you mount it where the cupholders reside it will become bothersome to drive around with the cup holders always down.

I have my three gauges mounted on my dash up against the window in Autometers #15002 pod, its painted to match and it looks like its factory.

Hi Chris,

I have the same set up the "Kat"wasspeaking of. I like dash mount, can see over the mount with no problem. I'll see if i can post a small photo, poor quality but, hopefully you'll get the idea.

I like your creative thinking... .

I mounted a pair of dual SPA digital guages to the A pillar with an Autometer dual pod. I bought the factory paint from the dealer (in a spray can) and it matches pretty well. I would have prefered a full replacement pillar, but that wasn't (and maybe still isn't) available.

Since you have the auto like I do, the best first mod you can make (after the guages) is to go with a DTT valve body (Bill Kondolay's) - while your at it, go with the MagHytec transmission pan as well. Later, think about the DTT torque converter. I have the valve body now and will probably leave it alone for a while. The transmission is noticably more efficient and gives more positve shifts. Then go with the 275 injectors to liven that baby up! Ohyeah, and a PE Box... and etc... ... ... #ad

KatDiesel and RollCast,

I am running the same setup as you guys. I have Diprocal Boost (0-60 lbs), EGT and transmission Temp Gauge loaded into my Autometer Dash Pod #15002.

Do you have a horrible dash reflection from the gauges? I thought the dash reflection was bad when I bought the truck, the gauge reflections take it to a whole new level. I am thinking of fabricating a "hood" to place on the top of the pod to eliminate the reflection.

Did you pull the dash screw to mount the pod? I have mine Velcro'ed in place for now. I don't want to create a dash creak/rattle.

Did you run the wires through the dash? I have mine running out the back of the pod and in the channel between the windshield and dash over to the A pillar.

Yes there is some reflection on the windshield, at night with lights on is the worse, manageable to me though. The wiring was run through the dash(1/2"hole)and mounted with the replacement screw provided. I have a plug the color of my dash to fill the hole if needed it came with the truck, a lucky extra I guess. No rattles or creeks, very solid... ... ... hope this helps

Yes the reflection is there. I have just gotten used to it. I have a hole drilled in my dash, and yes the srew was removed to anchor the pod. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, the next part is when I open the sliding window at night (I have mine set up for blue lights) if your higher then my tailgate... you can see the gauges.

I love the pod and my gauges.
