Gvw???

gvwr let's be realistic

I have a bone stock 1995 2500, (GVW 8800#) RAM, A/T. New load range 'E' tires (rears - 3050# capacity ea. @ 80psig) and no camper or overload equipment installed. Now my question - I have to transport a block of granite about 50 miles over good roads. Block weighs 2600#'s. I realize this probably exceeds GVW, but I believe the truck will carry this load. Any info, advice or experience to give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Why not use a suitably-rated trailer?

Go Ahead!

I carry a 3100 lb camper AND tow a 7500 lb trailer. Just drive sensibly, and tie that thing down good in the back.

I have the camper springs and have hauled 4500 lbs. of feed more than once. I think you could haul the block with no problem. Try to load it so the weight will not be on the tail end but close to over the axle and you will be fine.

I have hauled 3000 lbs. several times, and it is a non-issue. I would block your pc. of granite front and sides, as I doubt the tie down brackets will take as much as if you have it blocked solidly. Don't forget to give yourself a little more room at stop signs! Ray

No problem, my '95 barely squats with that much weight. Have plenty of stopping distance and you will be fine. Actually, you will surprised at how easy the truck handles that kind of weight. Don't run over any rice burners. :D:D
