HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!!!! You can't make this stuff up. I never get tired of the banter.
Please read what I posted carefully. I said drive in the US. Gas cost less than $4 when they went. 2nd, they made one trip out and one trip back. Why buy a month pass for over $500 when your trip costs $260? My point is , as long as fuel is cheaper here than in Europe, long distance mass transit in the will always cost way too much to be an option for most people in the US. None of this takes into consideration the train workers strike that they had to deal with while there. Please don't tell me that couldn't happen here.
Along with the increased refining costs associated with ULSD as well as seasonal heating oil demand, it's the global market for diesel fuel that drives the price up. With 50% or more of the vehicles in Europe being diesel powered as well as the diesel fuel demand for power generation and construction in developing countries such as China and India, the U. S. refiners export diesel fuel and import gasoline from refineries in areas such as Europe where demand for gasoline is lower.

And the wages dont reflect the higher costs of living by any means. Weve got a reliability guy that comes from UK everytime we have to rebuild one of our reactors. He works for the same company (were a global company) and yet hes making less money than a mechanic at top rate. A similar position here at our facility would net a salary of app. 12k more than the mechanics rate.
half ton diesel - WHY? "customers craving this" V6 3L turbo, egr, dpf, manufactured by italy's vm motori, owned by fiat/chyrsler & gm. What would the duty cycle need to be for this to be trouble free? since it's so much smaller than 6. 7 will be ok to get groceries? OK... will be interesting.
Found this, could be discontinued by now.

That truck is supposed to hit early next year. There is talks of possibly being released end of this year.
I missed this earlier. I reviewed the link and like the Cummins 2. 8 liter four cylinder. I'm not going to buy a new light duty diesel pickup regardless of whatever manufacturers offer but I'm more impressed by the small Cummins than by the VM Motori. I guess that's mostly a reflection of my bias.
Interesting to play with ''build your own'' Ram 1500 on the Ram trucks website. Sucks is the short-short-short bed with CrewCab. That rules it out for me unless they change it. I need a Crew cab and need at least a 6. 5' bed, not a 5' something. Would actually prefer a 8' bed. I haul quads in it if not dragging the camper and/or trailer... also it was very easy to end up with a $40K truck, might as well just jump to the 2500 Cummins at least for me. It looks like if you carefully select options and levels a 2500 Cummins would not be to crazy $$$ over a diesel 1500.
