New fuel control actuator

2004.5 turbo boost

Reaching it and keeping the wrenches on. I have the 24mm special flair wrench from Geno's Garage to hold the tube and a Gearwrench flex-flare-nut wrench on the line. I just can't get the 19mm flare nut wrench to stay on, and I don't think I can get the 19 mm flare socket on there. There must be a way to do it, but once that retaining nut moves, I have no choice but to pull it out.

Mind sending a pic of the problem?

There is no need to hold the tube for the flare nut.

And yes there is no way around to change that #6 injector. You have to do it no matter how nasty it is.

I used a forklift with plywood on it to lay on it for the whole job.
Or get yourself a top-creeper.

To use the words from Ronald Reagan - It can be done!

Small butane torch and heat the flare nut a bit, it should break lose once a lit heat expansion does it work. If it is that bad get yourself a new line before you try it.

You are correct, the cross over tube nut should not move or you are going may be cleaning up the cross over tube gallery and it will screw up the line end.

OK, I will bite the bullet and wallet, and do the injectors. I will have a new truck afterwards, right? ;) Except the rotting body..... Can't buy new vehicles now anyway...

Any special tools that I need besides 1/4 torque wrench and tube puller?

This is my order:

BD-POWER 1715505 REMANUFACTURED FUEL INJECTORS
DTECH DT590017 INJECTOR CONNECTOR TUBE SET
CTA TOOLS 2746 HIGH-PRESSURE INJECTOR CONNECTOR TUBE REMOVER

And I will find a reasonable 1/4" torque wrench. Do I need the Lisle 12330 19MM Line Socket maybe?

thanks

I bought brand new Bosch injectors from injection direct, whole kit came with injectors. Crossover lines, feeder tubes and valve cover gasket. 2649.00

Normal to have to hold the cross over nut even if they are TQ'ed correctly. If you don't you risk damage to the tube and\or line.

Success! I was able to replace 5 of the 6 injectors. The truck now starts and runs like a new truck. I am simply not spry enough to get to that back injector. I think I will order a new line and just cut it flush with the connector pipe, then I can use a socket to get it out.

Thank you everyone for all the help! I will write a more detailed report when I get a chance. Now I can get on to the rest of the problems....
