I've removed mine, and only noticed a 15* - 25* cooler idling temp, but no decrease in cruising temp...
The big downside of removing the grid heater is, the heater itself acts like a screen, so when you pop, or huff, a turbo it catches alot of pieces, and keeps 'em from going into the motor.
Be sure you know that you are taking that risk when you remove your grid heater...
(Also be sure to disconnect the "triggers" on the grid heater relays. . ) You might get a code that says something along the lines of "insufficient temperature raise detected from IAT during startup)
It's a cool mod to tell people about though. I've put about 10,000 miles on mine since I ripped the guts out of my grid heater.
