I'm thinking about a 09 6. 7 dually because of liking the 3rd generation body style better, but all of the negative feedback on regen is scaring me. Has anyone actually had trouble free motoring with a 6. 7? Thanks.

How are you going to use it... . we have an 08 5500 C&C, it runs hard everyday, has close to 115K miles on it and has been back 2 times to the dealer... one for a recall on hood insulation... . (it might come down) and the other time was for a cam position sensor when it had 2000 miles on it. .

I read yesterday where a guy runs his 5. 9 10K miles a year towing and the rest of the time it sits... I wouldn't do this to a 6. 7... ... but I'd have no problem when the time comes to replace one of the 5. 9L's we have... .

And this truck replaced a Ford F550 with 500K miles... this truck gets better fuel economy and so far has been trouble free. .

I have had for the first 20,000 miles. I only had one major cel during this time period and that was for turbo plugging. The dealer resolved this issue and re-flash the software. My truck is an early 08 built in Aug of 07, since then there have been numerous updates to the software and the 09 are better running truck.

In Aug of 09, I decided to mod my truck for better fuel efficient usage by using a 5"TBE and a Smarty ME programme. I have achieved a three MPG improvement with this set-up.

Just my $0. 02

I have the dreaded 07. 5 model year 6. 7L, use it as a daily driver, never towed with it, basically the worst case scenario. And I love this truck! I admit to having issues on a couple of occasions, but the dealer has dealt with those issues and I have confidence in my truck. I have no problem recommending the 6. 7L. The regen issues have been dealt with, especially for an 09.

I love my 08 65,000 and trouble free plus it's Bone Stock Real truck's don't need a programer to run right

YEah, I've got very few miles on mine, but it's given me hell. The mileage sucks, it's got good power, but it's regen scares the hell out of me. I pulled it in and parked next to the barns to unload some gear, and looked back, and it was almost on fire!! I parked in some weeds, not very tall, but the Cat lit 'em up like tissue paper!! And I can only imagine what it would do in regen on the county road after filling up the underside with grass and such leaving the pasture!! I've got the H&S programmer on it, and it's been pretty good. It's botton end torque is awesome!! All and all, I don't like it as much as my old 5. 9s, but what do you do?!?!

I have over 50K on mine and had a few issues that have been fixed. I love it but do wish it had better mpg. I'm waiting to see how reliable it is as a whole, emisions and all.

I have problem free since the new turbo 20 some thousand miles ago. I just had another one put on for a vibration issue. Go figure, the vibration is gone and I am living large again, got my truck back.

I bought mine in March of 09 and it has been to the shop for one thing - the TSB'd windshield wiper motor - replaced under warranty - other than that, it's the best truck I've ever owned. The power is awesome, i'm averaging 18mpg on the highway, and the engine brake is the best thing since sliced bread. If I have one complaint about my truck, it's the factory NAV system - biggest POS that I have ever owned in a vehicle.

Mine has 68,000 trouble free miles. It tows some but I also drive it short distances into town and back every day and let it idle occasioinally.

Sure, I wish the blowdried empty suits in DC had not mandated the stupid emission controls that reduce power and fuel economy but mine works fine with the cab and chassis emission equipment that the factory installed on it.

I have 48,000 on my 2008 and use it for some heavy towing. Had the soot bug worked out and love the power it has for towing. This is my 4th Cummins and added performance packages to the other three. The 6. 7 does not need it. It loves towing in the mountains where it can show up those towing with a Ford.

Get the truck

Get the truck. Regen probs have been more or less fixed by the new computer flashes. that has been the ONLY problem I have had in past 36,000 miles, toherwise a near perfect truck that I would NOT trade for anything at this time. Plan on keeping her for a long, long time.

after 50,000 miles, towing & highway miles, I have had no issues with the engine. Ball joints at 25,000, WCM failure at 48,000,then a ujoint at 50,000miles.
Good luck

All is well with 08 2500 several cel reflashed and updated new turbo "AS" flashed

just bought the truck i could afford, wish it was 4x4 not 2wd as it will get stuck in a mud puddle

engine transmission work great, but the pasture grass does bother me as the DPF it hangs down really low and would not be certified by the forest service due it is a point of ignition in dry grass

dpf could be a smaller profile

Austin diesel

I have 25k on my '07. 5 and there have been no problems. Had a couple software flashes done. Other than that trouble free! I tow a large 5w every two to three weeks. I love it!!

Trouble free

26,143 trouble-free miles in 2 years of ownership. Zero complaints... love the truck.

My advice: buy one. You'll be glad you did.

If it were me I would buy it.

Over the years all new emissions requirements have created issues.

I think most of the known emissions related issues have been resolved on the 6. 7L.

Bought my 07. 5 used so I don't know the history on it before I got it, other than previous owner did have some EGR work done at the dealership around 80K. Over 90K now and running fine. Using as a daily driver until spring.
