i have one in my truck since about july-06. they may have more than one pump but the paper that came with mine said 28 psi. most people say that psi is too high and will do some thing to the vp44. because the pressure is high they work off of oil pressure to start the pump or it may cause hard start problems. mine idles at 24 psi and is 14 to 19 wot. one person recomended to put a pressure regulator in line to limit it to 20 psi. and i will do this. mine is on the rail in front of the tank and you can hear it in the cab. i have had no problems with fuel flow but my fuel pressure gauge will spike 5-6 psi for no apparent reason. one time i shut off the truck and the pump continued to run. i had to turn it on and off again to stop it. i dont know if it is the pump but suspect its electrical. alot of guys run this kind of pressure but most say its too high. robert
I would go for a Glacier, FASS, Airdog or Rasp. As you stated, the BD is still a Carter and I don't trust them. I have the GFS-392 from Glacier and am totally happy. 20psi at idle, never gotten below 14psi, and it is quiet!
I just finished up the Glacier install on my truck. That certainly is a well thought out system and the install couldn't have been easier. I don't have a FP gauge but I can tell that the truck is running alot smoother. That leads me to believe that my oem pump was headed south.
