I'm looking for a bike carrier that will still allow me to tow my Lund fishing boat. All I've been able to find is a Draw-Tite that does not have the required 6-8 inch drop for my 3500 4x4. Is there any alternative other than a receiver on the front?
Back when I was a kid, I had a 10' boat, whose trailer had an extra long tongue. A set of motorcycle bumper-mount racks was mounted on either side of the tongue, to haul two motorcycles; and a set of T-racks extended up above them, to carry, upside down, over the motorcycles, an 8' jon boat. All that behind a pickup camper. Hey--it got all the toys where they needed to go in one trip
I assume your boat trailer is a bumper pull type. If so there's a big box on the back of your truck that fits bikes great . That's the main reason I have a TT instead of a 5er.
I want to find one of those racks that attaches to hitch of the fifth wheel. They may be home-made but looks like they work. I ruined 2 brand new Schwinns one time on a trip. The bumper gave way and I didn't know it till I stopped to get fuel. Needless to say I now have a custom bumper on the 5er.
I'm going to install a front reciever & front air bags for my bike. I don't like the idea of extending my hitch in the rear any further than I have to. It also allows me to enter the rear door of the cab over at rest stops.
The Hidden Hitch is what I'm looking for, but after visiting their web site, it shows their nearest dealer is in Nebraska. I live in Indianapolis. Is there a place where I can buy this on line?
I searched the internet for "bike carrier, collar hitch" and the first item in the list (MSN Search Engine) took me to eTrailer.com I also stumbled across a swagman model from The Hitch Corner
I have never delt with either of them, nor am I affiliated in any way.
I recommend searching as I indicated above, or searching on Hidden Hitch, Swagman, or Bike Carriers. I know that a lot of dealers carry the Hidden Hitch brand and that Swagman is a popular brand for carriers.
