Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) head bolt torque value more ??

I thought the long bolt vs short bolt was a 12V thing??

I know the exhaust side studs (OEM bolts are all equal) on my CR are a little longer than the others, but nothing like the difference in the 12V's.

All the bolts are the same length so it must be a 12 valve thing

Well Cummins only sent 22 bolts so I guess I'm stuck for another couple days

$50 to resurface the head is cheap, hopefully they did a good job.
Another option to running a tap down the holes is to take an old bolt, run a nut down the threads, cut an axial groove down the threads with your grinder, then remove the nut. Use this bolt to clean the threads, it works well and won't remove any material.

Yes, long and short bolts is 12 valve stuff. For a rudimentary check of the surfacing, if you can catch your fingernail it is too rough.

Thanks for the reply the surface looks rough In the picture but it's just PB blaster I sprayed on to stop rust because I couldn't go together on account of the head bolts I was short .
