Got my head resurfaced today, they took off eleven thousandths.

Is a ten over head gasket going to be ok as far as piston/valve clearances? This motor does see 4000 rpm frequently.

Next question-I have the A-1 head studs from Piers. What should I be torqueing these to? Also, for reference, what alloy are these made out of and what is the approx. tensile?

What is the best way to retorque? I have read both: following cummins torque sequence, and torquing in bolt rows. Do I do the 3-step deal on retorque or just break loose and torque to final step?

One last thing: I expect to see about 45 psi max max boost, not sure about drive pressure, but how high can I go with timing without losing another headgasket?

Truck Specs: 98 12v, 370's, #0, 4k GSK, Piers cam, HX35/40-16, Snow Water/Meth

Thanks,

Matt

You could do a . 010 over or a . 020 it's up to you and that will clear most cams.

Do a line torque

A1 studs are just fine!

Timing at 17 or so, maybe towards 20 with an O-ring, you do run Water/Meth

I would bet drive pressure would be 60 at 45 psi of boost... ... this is a guess!
