Ok, Im ready to O-ring and stud my head. MY question is... Do i need HD valve springs? My buddy did his in his 12v when he did his head so he suggested i do the same. Tonight i looked for valve train set ups for the 24v's and the prices were a bit shocking. What should i do? Is 600-1200 dollars in a titanium valve train nessecary? I would much rather spend that kind of money on porting.

The most ill be running is a Phat 62, 150sticks, and meth...

Thanks,

AFW

Bigger question is where are you trying to get with your truck? That can answer your own question by itself. With the things you have listed in this post, no you do not need the springs.

Im shooting for a solid 500hp streeter. I think that the above parts should put me in that range. Im getting the impression that an upgraded valvetrain is more for the all out Drag or Sled truck?

Well you see in my sig where I am at, I do not have anything done to the head at all other than the fire rings I cut into it.

So save your money, and you will get there.

You don't need to upgrade the valve springs for a street application w/500hp unless you plan on getting a redline box & reving over 3400 rpm. I've been running 500 on the street with no problems. If you oring your head... . just make sure to use stainless wire so you don't have the same problem that I had last week. Soft wire kinda got dented & blew a head gasket out.

Im running a redline with a stock head and didnt loose my stock gasket until 235,000 miles which was 44,000 after I installed my redline. I also run it to 4000 RPM frequently.

Do as Spicy suggested... save your money for the more necessary items to make 500 HP. PM him for prices on the items you need as he was cheaper than anyone else I got quotes from and the guy KNOWS his stuff!
