Hope this may help others who have had trouble finding the bulb for the headlight switch on 2nd gen trucks. On a recent service of the dash lights of my 2002 3/4 ton the bulb for the headlight switch was burned out. The bulb itself is on a plastic tower and you have to buy the bulb in this form as it does not pull out. I went to the dealer and was informed that while they had the bulb, they didn't have it in the tower form and ... . a replacement wasn't available. After searching various auto parts stores I finally hit a GM dealership and found a parts guy who was willing to do some searching. He found a similarly configured bulb (it's just a bit shorter) which fit the headlight switch and lit it. Part number for the GM replacement bulb is 16206595. Cost is in the $7. 00 range.
