Wanted to thank Joe Donnelly for the writeup in issue #59 about the R&R of the 2nd gen heater core. Great writeup procedure on the R&R of the heater core! My brother & I just finished up on swapping mine out & the only note I would add is if you have an auto trans, make sure you disconnect the cable to the transmission indicator behind the dash. I read another thread that mentioned this & thats how I discovered it without breaking it. Start to finish, about 4 1\2 hours...

Now, I have one small problem I'm hoping someone has an answer to. After completion of the R&R I noticed the indicator light on my OD in the dash no longer works. Does anyone have any insight on how or why this isn't working? I should note, the OD is still operating correctly & I can still lock it out but no dash light indicating the state of the OD...

TIA,

Clay :D

OD Light...

The OD light going out is really odd. Mine did the exact same thing after I had the heater core changed a few months back. I ended up just replacing the bulb and all is well again. I figured it was just jostled around enough whilst removing the dash to cause it to burn out. Weird we both had the same bulb go out on the same fix job. My truck does not have ABS so I just moved the bulb from the ABS indicator to the OD location.
