Any BOMBERS still around??

I've had the opposite experience with both my maxcare warranties as they paid for themselves.. and especially with the electronics in the new RAMs its totally worth it. The 12" radio is more than the warranty, same with the active headlamps, one of those craps out and the warranty is worth it not to mention the trans, engine,etc... Nobody is forced to do it.

I would really love it if they could build us a vehicle that was dependable enough to not “need” an extended “warranty” at all. But, they are not, so they up sale these service contracts. My experience has been much better in that warranty is rarely used. Everything is a crap shoot these days….I guess I could be called a gambler.

Once an industry starts pushing extended warranties and the customers do not push back, then the industry can start to cut quality by saving money purchasing cheaper components. As a a result, the attitude slowly changes from, "Oh, that should have never happened, let's see what we can do for you." to, "You should have bought the extended warranty".

This is the first warranty I ever bought in my life. Could maybe used one on my 1999 the lift pump was a huge problem back then. Dodge wouldn’t even stand up under the factory warranty so who knows but at 33k and 3.5 years almost on this 2022 tradesmen I have had no issues with this truck. After having half a dozen new vechicles I have never even used the factory warranty for anything. Luck of the draw I suppose

But will Max Care cover a grid heater bolt destroyed engine ?Will factory warranty? If I have a bd grid heater installed will it void my warranty? Nobody knows

I think the Moss/Magnussen Act will cover the BD kit as it's a replacement part. The act allows you to use non OEM replacement parts. It's not a performance part. From the outside of the engine, you can't really tell until you look very close at it. @Turbo Terry, As long as you're not having to run the grid heater much for cold starts, I think you'll be fine till your warranty is up. And if it were to ingest the nut while under warranty, they most definitely would have to cover under warranty! It's their design that failed!

There is a warranty bulletin for the dealers to verify why the grid heater failed. If the dealer tests the relay and it was the relay that failed the engine repair is not covered unless the truck is under the 3/36 warranty because the relay is not covered under the powertrain warranty.. Unless you have a MaxCare you would be out of luck.

You should highlight the last sentence.

The Maxcare plan we got yielded the best ROI of any of my investments...and I never buy extended warranties but on these trucks it's probably a good "bet" most of the time. If you don't need it that's great, you still have peace of mind. A couple of repairs will generally pay for it. Everything costs $1000 now. But I totally self insure for most stuff I buy.
