Anyone with a 1999 or ?, 24 valve, w/ auto trans. ever replaced the 3 short straight hoses, and the 2 short 90° molded rubber hoses that connect the three steel coolant pipes to the cab heater and transmission cooler? After 7 years (but low, low miles), I figured it was time to change the coolant, belt, and hoses
, and I wanted to get ALL the rubber hoses replaced, not just the radiator hoses. I tried to do those small hoses without removing anything, and after many hours, finally got the clamps off and the hoses cut off. Now, I'm having a heck of a time getting the steel pipes back in, especially at the transmission cooler which is right beneath the exhaust manifold and the turbo - access is pretty tough. Figuring it may have been easier to just remove the turbo in the first place, but I guess I'm stubborn. If anyone can share any tips or techniques, they would be greatly appreciated.
Also wondering if anyone has tried an alternative routing of these connections? Two of those steel pipes run right next to/under the exhaust manifold and the other one next to the oil filter. Would be nice if they weren't there for better access.
