2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Heater will not work. Im FREEZING!!!!!!!!!

My early 98 12vlv i just bought is about to freeze me to death. I work in north dakota, needless to say it gets alittle cold here. I have replaced the thermostat and have plenty of coolant. Motor temp is 180 deg but very little heat from the vents. I have blocked the grill with no results. With the fan on the 1st and 2nd setting it will blow warm until i reach highway speeds and then it freezes me out. The higher i turn the blower's fan speed the colder it gets. Can someone please help me find the problem.

Lack of heat can be caused by blend door problems. Might want to check out Auto replacement part, blend door fix, Heat, AC replacement parts

Not exactly the same problem as yours. My truck was either hot or cold, there was no in between. I just did the heater-treater thing and now it works like a charm. That rear screw on the actuator motor is a ***** to get at. Besides that, it was real simple.

sounds like it may be a heater core. . I replaced mine, and now I am having problems with the knob on the dash moving all the way back and forth. .

I'd wager closer to it being a blockage in the heater core, or the core has been disconnected from the coolant flow. Check to see if any valves have been installed. The heater hoses are located on the firewall above the turbo, two 5/8s hoses right together, going forward to two steel lines, which go forward, one to the cylinder head right behind the thermostat, and the other down next to the oil filter to the water pump suction housing below the alternator. If a valve has been installed, it could be turned off. I see this all the time on commercial trucks and farm tractors. There might even be two valves, but usually there is only one on the Dodges. That or the two lines may have been disconnected, bypassing the heater core, in which case, it probably has a leak, and was bypassed to keep water out of the cab.
