Some on here say "I" would never be interested in a truck like that. But so what, you'll never have a truck that everyone wants. All you need is one person that wants your truck. Fact is you have a rare truck that is fairly desireable. THe only way to find out what it's worth is to put a high price on it and advertise it. THat being said I personally think $23 - $24 is too high even for that truck.

Apparently it has. Like I said, find the right buyer, he'll pay. I'm not saying there's not a moron in the world who would pay that much, I'm just saying if he wants realistic pricing, 23-24k is absolutely unrealistic. Absolutely. If he wants to sit on it for a long time and advertise it outside the local 4x4 hangout, hoping for that "one" buyer, that's his choice and I understand that. Usually when I sell a vehicle, I'm out to sell it, not sit on it forever and hope for the right buyer. If that what he wants to do, so be it.

Agree. These trucks are NOT as rare as poeple would like to think. I've had 4 in the last 3 years, 2 right now (1 auto and 1 stick). I have advertised here and in other venues and had much more luck eslewhere. I've gotten what I felt was GOOD money for one and have another I can't get a decent offer on. The one thing I keep reading that is true is that truck is worth what some one will pay for it. It's that simple. At $14-15K it might move soon, at $20+ good luck, and be very paitient. If you think these trucks are are worth gold just look at ebay, where the buyer determins the price. Also watch how many of them come along, they are not that rare.

I think this was the point. He doesn't "want" or "need" to sell it. It's a "spare" vehicle that someone told him was a desirable truck that he could get good money for. I've known several people in this situation that have priced vehicles, houses, land, whatever, for what may seem to most of us to be "absolutely unrealistic" prices, only to find themselves selling their goods for an "absolutely unrealistic" price. I say go for it.

the the right buyer, that truck is a slam dunk... clean, low mile version of a highly desirable truck with choice mods?



the trucks aren't "rare", but they're the rarest and most desirable, and finding clean, low mile versions of them is getting harder every year.



a bone stock truck w/ those miles in that condition is a $15-16k truck easy. to someone who wants a truck outfitted like that, his asking price isn't outrageous

Usually when I sell a vehicle, I'm out to sell it, not sit on it forever and hope for the right buyer. If that what he wants to do, so be it.

So then scooter,what your trying to tell those here is that YOU would rather give it away than make an attempt to get what YOU as the owner feel its worth then,hmmm,interesting.

A "FORMER" 2 time sled pulling champ and thats award is ancient history at that. You completely missed what I was trying to get across. So I'll make it easy so even you can understand... ... . Al's truck is worth what HE,as the owner,wants or can get for it,period. Not what you would pay for it or think its worth as its easy to see that you would want a bargain price on any ride. There are alot of very nice 98's,they are not rare,however,that clean,they are scarce,find one cheap and you get away with a bargain from a owner who didn't either care or know. However find a owner who knows or understands and can hold out for his price,then your out of luck as your price will never materialize because he knows that he can get for it what he wants.



As for Gene's truck and the price it commanded,my hat is off to both sellers for the money they got for it. They stood their respective grounds and got their asking price and didn't give in to those,like you in this case scooter,who said it would never sell at that price... ... ..... Andy

a truck with a few scratches and a few good door dings can turn into a couple grand in paint and body if you're a stickler...



a nice clean 4x4 with 150k on the clock could need a grand or more in front end work.



if you're wanting the mods that are on there, factoring in the time/money that would be spent purely on installation can be factored in.



as stated above, to the right buyer, it'll sell... if you don't need the money, I'd sit on it and hold out.

Talk about misperception and internet assumptions... . No, what I'm saying is when I sell a vehicle, I'm out to sell it, not sit on it forever. Nobody said anything about giving anything away. When I sell something, I have a bottom line in my mind. I ask more than my bottom line. If I get an offer at or above my bottom line, I take it. I'm selling it (whatever it is) and that's my goal. That's the way I operate. If he wants to sit on it and command top dollar, that's his choice, and obviously yours too.

Here's your break. Al's truck is worth ONLY what he gets for it, not what he asks. If he get what he asks, good for him. If he asks 24k and has to sit on it for a year, and is willing to do that, good for him. Like I said, he may find the perfect buyer. Do I still think it's absolutely unrealistic to ask 24k for his truck, yes I do. (especially if he wants to move it). You're definitely not going to change my mind and I'm not out to change yours.



As for Gene (whoever he is) and his pullin' truck, my hats off to him too, although I don't know why. Obviously that sounds like a previous thread from days gone by, same situation, different truck. Opinions expressed, you take offense, blah blah blah... . but then again, I'm just spewing ignorance.



BTW- I'm just expressing my opinion like was asked by Al. If he doesn't want to follow it, that's his choice. I'm sure it's OK with him, it's plenty OK with me, I just don't know about you... :{

I do it the real easy way, put it on EBay! I figure that 40 million lookers will tell me the value better than my own wild ideas. In this persons case, he can set his reserve where he THINKS it is worth, the bidders will tell him what it is REALLY worth. Real simple, he either sells it at his price or better, or finds out what the market really is.

I agree... that's what I mentioned in my previous post.



As for fees I agree... they are rollin in the $. But you can list AND sell a truck for $80 and that's not far off of my local trader paper. IF you don't get a dead beat bidder...
