Ugh. I bought the dang service manual on disc... . and now I can't find the @#!$-ing disc! #@$%!

I have a manual trans and am looking to pull the center dash apart to get to the cig lighter. I'm just looking to use it as a switched 12V supply to my switch (which will then operate the relay) for some lights. I found a diagram for an auto trans truck. But it says to start where the cupholders are and remove three screws. In the diagram, it looks like 2 of them might be under the shifter boot?? Is this true?

Thanks for the help... . I have what appears to be an hour free tomorrow and I want to knock this out (and not spend the hour looking for the dang manual!)

Thanks!

There are photos posted several times of the center stack with console removal. Remove the floor console first, then remove the two screws at the bottom of the radio bezel that go up from the bottom. Bezel pulls straight out after that.

A shortcut for access to the lighter wiring is possible.

Inside the lighter are a couple of tabs that extend slightly into the side of the tube. Depress those with a tool of some sort and the lighter will slide out from the dash. There isn't much slack in the wire but you should be able to finesse it out far enough to tap into the power wire.

I used to have a picture of it but can't locate it now.

I did all the work of removing the rubber from the cup holders, removing the screws that hold the cup holders down, removing the plastic bottom of the cup holders, removing the two screws that hold the "blank panel" (plastic panel in front of shifter), only to find that the two screws in the bezel around the radio were never installed. If you can't get the lighter out as described above, try gently removing the radio bezel before you disassemble everything else.

When going back together leave the two lower screws out of the radio bezel, then if you have to remove it again the center console does not have to come out.

Dang - that would have been a good idea!!

Unfortunately I was not blessed with a lot of patience and I started before i read the post about just pulling out the cig. lighter..... and I finished before reading your post about saving time in the future!:-laf
