I have a 2001 4x4 and Had a mishap of something hitting the stock steering stabilizer. I tried straightening with no hope. I am looking for all the people that replaced there steering stabilizer to chime in here with some part #s. I don't want to go back to stock due to I just went out of warranty and do not want to see the dealer again. I would like part #s for single dual and opposing stabilizers for a 2001 4x4. TIA

Well, I don't have any part #'s, but I have the Skyjacker dual set-up, works nice with the big tires. They're the opposing ones, they run the length of the tie-rod, outta the way of damage, so far.

My 2 cents!

I also have the Skyjacker dual opposed steering stabilizers on my truck. They do the job with the big tires------but I am not totally enamoured with them. The kit (at least the kit I got-maybe they have a different one out now) is made for a 1500 so the center mounting bracket has to be modded to fit the D60 front axle that the 2500s run. Not real thrilled with the way the outer attachments clamp around the tie rod end either. And last but not least it is possible to install it in a manner that can cause the steering to get bound when making a hard right turn through a dip and then a rise in the terrain-don't ask me how I know this  other than it was close to being a pants-filler... ... . after removal of the passenger-side one to allow me to drive home and some careful thought during reinstallation the problem has never returned... . but the potential is out there.

If you want twins AFAIK the Skyjacker kit is the only one out there-just be advised you'll have to mod it to make it work (again unless they've released a kit recently specifically for the 2500s). Mine will stay until I finally get around to the custom front axle I've been dreaming of for a while at which time the whole steering system is gonna get a rework to the way it should have come from the factory!

RS5404. I replaced mine a while ago along with the stock shocks and it made a 100% improvement (imho). I would double check this part number just to be sure.

How does your steering stabilizer fasten to your trackbar?

I looked at using the Rancho, but they don't have the mounting hardware needed to fit the 2001 (large stud through the bar). Did they change this again for 2002?

Thanks,

Justin

Nothing fancy for me, I just went with a Heckethorn stabilizer, $35 from Napa. Stock one only went 20k, the new one is fine after 155k. I'm happy.

One thing to beware of with a new stabilizer or after an alignment is that the big side of the adjustment coupler on the tie rod is not facing the stabilizer. Looks like plenty of clearance when the wheels are pointed straight ahead but in a sharp turn the coupler can bend your stabilizer.
