Hello everyone i need alittle of your alls knowledge. Ive got an 01 auto and would like to of course make it run alittle better. Ive got a TST Comp box on it andits already straight piped. Im planning on putting bigger injectors in it but dont really know what size to go with. If i run the box on level 5 i can still use my cruise control (which i use alot). Maybe 100hp inj. or lower. My next question would be what kind of hp with them two combined would it be putting out. I know that i need a tourq. converter and valve bodies but what about the input shaft? I called the guys from DTT and Dodge and i was told that the transmission and input shaft were good for around 325 hp ,well dodge was alot less help. I kind of questioned that but im not a transmission guy. Thats my delima any help, thoughts, comments.

I think that the stock shafts will handle more HP than 325? I was thinking in the 4's. The big killer on them is when leaving on boost from a dead stop (especially in 4WD). I would call ATS and Suncoast to see what their opinion on the subject is. I had a Comp, 60HP inj. , 4in exh, scotty intake, hx 40hybrid, and Suncoast TC and VB, with 35 in tall tires and launched on boost many times W/O a problem.

Mach 2 edm's would be a good choice (105 HP) I like mine but guess what? I want more, I'm looking at Mach 4's now. You really gota think to the future in this bombing game. I got RV 275's ok for about 2 month then mach 2's now want 4's If you can afford it just plan ahead and get the best and biggest, course you can't always do that cos of smoke, heat, transmission (wife) and all kinds of other stuff. I reckon I am at about 475 HP and I launch in 4X4 with about 15-20 lbs boost, so far so good with the stock shafts but the ATS convertor is more forgiving than say a DTT

Plan ahead and shop smart.

Paul

Mach 4's are gonna get aweful toasty unless you have another turbo up your sleeve. I'm going from 4's down to 2's... .....

I have seen stock input shafts hold more than 325hp, but then again I have seen trucks(input shafts) not hold 325hp when pulling trailers. One thing that you will find is that most shop will tell you that you don't need an input shaft because that is what most guys want to here. The most important thing to ask a shop is if the input shaft does break who is gonna pay for the damages you or me. Normally if the input shaft break it will break off in the converter meaning the converter has to be completely gone thru and the pump usually needs rebuilding, plus the trans needs to come out and pulled apart. The price difference is normally $695 if you buy one and approx. $2200 if you don't do one and it breaks.

Thats why i was asking because to me it doesnt make since to pay about 1500 for torq. and v. b. and another 600 to 700 for an input shaft when the stock trany still will not hold really any more power. Ill spend another 1000 to get a transmission that will hold up to anything i could throw at it down the road. After the input shaft i would have to get the output shaft to probably which would be another 6 to 7 and labor to replace both plus anything else in the transmission. To me its just more cost efficient and a better transmission.

I dont really pull alot just 2 samuris and quads is about it. I do like to play around with it though. I know that i want injuctors with my tst to get ALL the performance out of it and maybe biger exhaust. Then ill take it to columbas IN to get it tuned up. I only want about 4 to 450 HP or thats what im kind of expecting with fingers crossed.

I forgot to ask. That mallory marine pump in your truck speck, im guessing thats off the 380Hp marine engine? Isnt that the same b series thats in the trucks. Im almost positive it is (almost) courious what the difference is. (tech. diff. like bore, piston, valves, cam stuff like that. )
