Assuming you don't have the foglight option, I would venture a guess that this plug is for the foglights.

is your truck runing?????? that the piston return spring sensor. without that your pistons may get stuck at the bottom of thier stroke!

Now that you showed me yours am I supposed to show you mine? On my O1 slt is the same thing on the inside of the frame rail but it's plugged in to something. Wires diappear into a fat split loom. I guess i could unplug it and see what doesn't work anymore. Maybe it powers the chick-magnet. If so, don't worry. It doesn't work too well anyway. I'll trade it. what can I get?

I've got it!

We've established that mine powers the chick magnet but for the rest of you... ... Ford owns cummins and it's the the glow plug light for ford/cummins applications



On edit - I KNOW ford doesn't own cummins - it was a joke

Yes I have the out side temp on my overhead console ...



The connector looks more like a male style connect of sorts not like a thermometer.



I fist noticed it hanging down about a mth ago and just figgered thats why my 4x4 lights not lighting up in the cab .....



Just today I was under the truck so I grabbed it and looked around all over the place anywhere it could reasch and NOTHING ... but there was a little hanger like slited thing on bottom of the frame and the little conector in question slid right on it ... so its suppose to just sit there all open to the elements.



you would think that if it was a senisitve thermometer it wouldnt have a plug like end where it can get packed full of road debris .



Dont Know???



Id say theres a legitimate chance your right.



So its either a chick magnet or a thermometer

is there a wire coming out of your 4x4 hub on the front axel? mine comes out of the axle and makes a conection on the pasager side in the fron that looks like that.
