I just recently purchaced a very clean 98 2500 4x4 LB :-laf

The truck runs very well but the ABS light and the brake are on I think

it's a sensor but don't which one it may be I'm new to the ABS and Diesel

Engine but I'm a quick study. Is there a sensor on the brake pad that makes the ABS light come when the pads are warn down.

Thanks John

Welcome to the TDR!

Fill in your sig so we can better understand what you are driving. First, the pads will squeal when they are worn down enough for replacement. How many miles are on the truck? The ABS sensor is for wheelspeed, not maintainance. Your'e gonna have to eyeball those pads yourself. Can you ask the guy you bought it from?

If it's the same as my 97, there is a sensor on the rear pumpkin that goes south. Got a new one at NAPA and the lights went out. Not too expensive and easy to replace. Mine is only RWAL, don't know if the 98's are all-wheel or not.

My 95 is 4 wheel abs and my lights are on, My front passenger ABS sensor is bad. If you have an Ohm meter, you can test them, they should ohm out around 1200-1400 ohms. Including the rear.....

We need your signature to know what truck 12V or 24V and RWAL or 4WAL. I found that a bad ground to the ABS actuator unit lit the lamp on my 12V RWAL. Might want to check the cables.
