Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Hi Temp on 01 HO??

I just mounted my pyrometer pre turbo on my 01 HO. I was able to get it up to 1200° up hill unloaded floored. I hit almost 100 mph and had to slow down. Is this normal temp for an unmodified truck?
