Turn signal issue

OH, now yer talkin!!! Yep 1/4 turn ball valve with the barbed fitting with a push on rubber cap. Now that's DA ****!!!

I'd definitely replace the barbed fitting with a plug when not doing samples to prevent accidental partial opening of the valve from engine vibrations, heating and cooling cycles, etc. if doing this. Better safe than sorry.

Another option is a vacuum pump and tube down the dipstick hole. It takes a bit of finagling to get the depth right, once I figured it out I marked the depth on the tubing with electrical tape. Oil also should be warm/hot which is recommended anyway when pulling a sample.

I grew up changing my oil every 2,000 miles and thinking about going 15k makes me cringe, but that’s the way it is today with new engines & oils

Yep I get it for sure, if the TBN levels are good and not a lot of issues, might as well run it.

I use the truck we dont tow giant stuff with it, but we use it for hay and pulling some smaller trailers, I plan on keeping it as long as it does not rot away.

I have not had any issues using Blackstone, I like the payment plan they have set up, because I can forget to pay for more supplies from others, some companies you pay up front and they give the supplies. This way I have 2 sample kits on the shelf ready to go if I need them. There is not much to a plastic bottle I get that.... but the paperwork is all set up, I made their pdf form into a fillible form so its super easy to fill out on the computer. They answer emails quickly if you have additional questions.

You don"t have to change the oil to sample it, I guess I could pull a sample at 6k interval and then change and sample the 9k interval, if major issues then go back to the 6k sample if needed to see where I was, and fall back to the 6k interval, if I sample at 6k and 9k the cost ticks up for little gain IMO.

I"m still going to use OA for what it is, just another diagnostic test, data can be interpreted many ways.
