I installes a EZ and 275s in a 02 auto. It has a 4" exhaust and aFe mega filter on it. I did a J hook on the wastegate but it still has high EGTs and under 25# boost. The Turbo seems to be in good shape, radial and end play are normal. It seems to spool up well but 20-24# is max boost. The other 24v trucks I set up similar always run 28-32# boost. This is the first hard lined wastegate I have worked with. What am I missing??????

My 01 auto with 4" exhaust, super chips tuner runs hot too. I tried setting it to stock and it still runs hot. I was wondering if the pyro guage, which is new might be wrong. I only have 18 lbs boost. I talked to the techs at Edge and they said more boost will make it even hotter. Others have said more boost will lower my EGTs?

Gonzo, is there a way to get more preload on the J-hook's spring? I'd think that should hold the wastegate closed longer. I agree, the boost numbers seem low, but I haven't played with an auto yet so I really don't know much about the HY.

Phil, you must have got ahold of one of the night janitors at Edge. Forcing more air into a diesel is absolutely, positively, the way to lower egt's. There is a point for a given turbo setup that the turbo chokes and any additional boost psi actually will create higher egt's, but that won't happen to the HY on your truck 'till the upper 20's or so.
