About a day or two ago I noticed my oil pressure was sitting higher than usual.

It normal sits between the middle two marks on the gauge and now it has been sittin between the right two marks.

I searched the forums and the only thing I could find close to this is about a ground off of the battery. I checked the ground and it seems to be ok. I was due for an oil change so I just finished it and still no change.

I would appreciate any help I can get with this. I don't want to damage anything and this truck is my daily driver.

Thanks

James

Well I bet the guys will agree that 9 out of 10 times it' the pressure sender, not the oil system that is at fault.

Can you hook a mechanical gauge to the filter mount and check it to see if you get a "normal" reading before spending any $$$ for parts. ???

Pastor Bob... .

New Symptom???

Well I am not sure if this is a related problem or what... .

When I was driving my truck to work today I was watching the gauges a lot because I was worried about the oil pressure. Once the Engine came up to normal operating temp which is usually between the middle two marks it would start to show signs of over heating and get about between the right two marks stop for a second and then return to normal. And it would do this the whole time.

This kind of makes me feel its a gauge problem or something, not an engine problem but I am not to sure.

Thanks again Pastor Bob.

My temp gauage comes goes up to the middle, then returns down between cold and normal then to normal. I think this is just the thermostate opening and closing in normal currculation/operation. This is more noticable when outside tempetures are colder (winter), or hotter, (summer). Just my $. 02. Patrick.

No I didn't clean it off... . I just replaced the end of it.....

I will try and clean it off tonight and see what happens.

Yup, that little ground wire going to the rad support/ core will wreak havoc with your gauges. I had them all nearly peg, and got out and looked under the hood (this instilled GREAT confidence in the customer whom we were moving at the time- I was a contractor for a moving co), and my helper mentioned a wire that was almost unhooked. I doubted it woudl do anything, but I tightened it back down, and all is well, 100K later. Make sure you sand the paint off the hole, and use some silicone sealer to sela out water, though that wastn much of a problem in your area a few years back.
