I'm interested in finding out if anyone has come up with an interesting way of blocking off those holes in the front bumper. I do not have fog lights nor the plastic that would surround them. I don't want billet inserts. The truck is used off road alot, and the fins on the A/C condenser are getting bent. What genius at DC came up with the idea of putting the most delicate piece in front? Does anyone know of a honeycomb insert to match the grille? Would the truck run hot if I used the "winter front" inserts in these holes?

The "genius" that designed the bumper had cooling the engine, A. C. , transmission and intercooler in mind. Block it off and you defeat the purpose. Try some plated or stainless screening material from a hardware store.

I put Stull's SS grill & bumper inserts on my truck. They are a stainless steel mesh that even stops most bugs from getting in. You remove the honeycomb inserts the factory put in and replace them with these. You could put just the bumper inserts without the grill but I think it might look odd. In my area they gravel the roads twice a year and my radiators were getting all dinged up - with these on I'm getting no dings. They tell you to mount the bumper inserts on the inside of the bumper but I was able to mount them on the outside and they sit right in but can't go through the hole and take out a radiator when off-roading. They also don't block airflow for cooling purposes. I bought them online through Summit racing for approx. $165 for the set (here's a link http://store. summitracing.com/product. asp?ssid=28D4G7PIEYPKFPC FNBI6ICOWF5&p=A6ED2A00-3612-11D3-949D-080009FC5B5F ). I'm attaching a picture of them on my truck as well.

I had to replace my grill and used the old honeycomb in my bumper. It looks cool and cost me nothing but a little engineering.

No, you have to remove the honeycomb from the grill and the stainless steel mesh goes in it's place. The mesh for the grill is in two parts - one for the left and one for the right. There is a frame around it give that gives it a lot of rigidity. The screen sits behind the grill and is one continuous piece from top to bottom.

This is a STEP BUMPER and is advertized as such. DC engineered the bumper to be used as a step so you can easily access your engine. Stick your little toe in it and step up. Try it - it works. And maybe you'll just leave it like it is.

Steve L. ,I looked at Summits site and found those inserts, Question, what is different between 98 and 00,01 models. It does not look like there would be much difference but they only list up to 98 models. I want some for my truck!

Jeff, I'm pretty sure they are the same. I'd just call summit and ask - I'd bet they just haven't updated the web page yet.

Jeff

I ordered my Stull billet inserts from Summit. When I called to order, they told me the same thing. I took the chance and ordered the ones for a 98 and they fit my 01 just fine.
