Well, I got it at about three o'clock. Waiting for my work day to be over was painful.

I figured, "Hey! Why not load level 9 and see what it's got?!"

Ummm, well, it smokes like a 12-valve! At least until the laggy SPS66 lights. It was hard to drive w/o smoking out everyone in sight, but it sure was fun. Once the turbo lit it pulled hard and clean until I shifted at 3200. If forgot this thing fuels to 3500, otherwise I would have tried running it up there. Anyway, this thing flat rocks!

I then ratcheted back to level 2. Great bottom end, the smoke isn't too bad, and it works great stacked with the TST. Due to all the traffic around here I gave up trying to test acceleration with various settings. I'll have to wait 'til the cover of night to do some real testing. :-laf I'll be running the Smarty programs with timing and the TST with no timing, trying to find the most drivable setting.

I hope to report back later.

This thing makes the Bully Dog Triple Dog look like a joke! I wish I had an '04. 5 and up auto. Man, would that be nuts! You auto guys are going to have too much fun with this thing.

Bob Wagner. Send him a PM. He'll let you know the price...

It definitely is worth the money. I can't wait to spend a few hours tweaking settings on the dyno.

let's get it on!

JC has the patience of a priest but I must admit he almost went to the darkside once waiting for marco and stefano's magic :-laf

Hey John thanks for waiting :)

** and you must remember this is only the beginning

Would you say too much smoke? Let me say I'm not playing the smoke nazi angle here but you can add 100 hp to a third gen without additional smoke so why should you have it on setting 2? My biggest complaint about the second gen Smarty was the inability to drive it without off boost smoke even on the lower settings.

hey scott, just like an amusement park free rides at woodburn this weekend are you going to be there?

no charge ;)

Here's a funny... When my Girlfriend got back from doing errandsI asked her if she could tell a difference.

She just gave me a dirty look, said when she pulled out of the drive (90 degree, and gravel) she took off like normal, slid a little sideways, and about pee'd herself.

Scott, what was your 2nd gen set up? My current set up in my sig is awesome. I get crazy amounts of smoke free power. I can tow 6000 pounds with out any smoke. Yes I can get some really obscene amounts of smoke below 1500rpm if I really cram it, but driving moderately hard yields little smoke for my truck. I absolutely love the smarty. One thing that works good for lowering smoke is by using the lower sub levels on the comp and using program 6 or 8 on the smarty.

Ok, I finally have had enough time to test out some various settings.

Setting 1, 30hp. Umm, yeah, right! This thing takes off like the BDDL on Performance! It's way stronger throughout the rpm range. Feels much stronger and smoother than the EZ on the #2 50hp setting, and my injectors don't cackle any more. I pulled off the EZ to run the Smarty.

The 60, 90, and 130 settings are noticeably stronger. As I stated before, the smoke on level 8 and 9 are just stupid! I was lauging all the way down the block the first time I took off. Not too practical for daily driving, but it sure is fun!.

I think my favorite so far is the 90hp setting with timing. I haven't put on too many miles yet, but it seems that this setting really rips, but with less smoke than the no-timing setting. This is probably the setting I'd run if I only had the Smarty.

The 30hp setting though will break my tires loose a bit in 3rd gear. Seems to be just the right amount of fuel to make some good torque prior to the SPS66 fully spooling. I want to play with this and the TST this afternoon to see if I can make my clutch slip.

There's going to be a learning curve, though. I have to get some dyno time to get the max hp settings figured out. It's too hard with a manual to do it by the seat of the pants.

Great job Marco!!!

On edit:

Watching your truck pull hard right past redline is kinda fun, too!

Glad you like your new toy!

Most will be surprised how WELL the little guy of the family already does!

And it's only a 30 Hp increase! :-laf

Immagine the higher Hp settings!

Glad you like your new toy!

Smarty Cr Add Pressure?

Does the Smarty add pressure? Or is it ok to leave my EZ on setting 2.

My Smarty should be here today Oo.

I run my truck on setting 9 and it only smokes a bit if I lay into the throttle hard when the truck is at idle... like at a stop sign and I floorboard it. I have to pretty much want to do it to make it smoke.

Something must have been broke on your truck.

JJPage,

nope, Smarty does no pressure. I've only made the FP more "linear" but have not raised it above what it is with a stock software.

Nate,

We're talking about the Common Rail here, a different beast that deliveres way more fuel than the VP does... .

Marco,

Do you sell these direct? I called a couple of the stores and they dont have this new one yet. Also what difference will I see compaired to my edge with attiude?

So whats the deal with the standard timing TST box and the timing settings on the smarty? They were tuned with eachother in mind but I like having my headgasket in one piece especially with 50+lbs of boost! I am going to go try the non timing settings first and check back!
