I have an 04 Laramie that I bougt new with the Homelink that has worked fine for years. I bought an early 07 SLT and I tried to switch the two overhead consoles and when I plugged the black display harness in and turned on the ignition key, the words "no buss" was displayed and my engine light came on and stayed on for a few starts then went off. I removed the homelink overhead right after the no buss was displayed. Is this homelink not compatible with my new truck or do I need the dealer to make it work. Any help or advise will be appreciated.

The system for an '04 is probably not compatible with the electronics in an '07 but it could be the '07 SLT is missing components or circuitry that allows the HomeLink to operate in a Laramie. Perhaps a knowledgeable Dodge parts man can tell you? Or a local aftermarket electronics retail installer tech?

I know that factory radio receivers and related aftermarket components suitable for '05 and earlier trucks will not work in '06 and later trucks because the newer models use CANBUS electronics for operation and communication between components. In layman's terms, I think CANBUS sends and receives command signals over the dc electric wiring.
