Which 5er to buy - Jayco or Alfa

A medium truck mechanic who is straight up, and trustworthy, has said that the guys hottshotting with one tons, any brand, have had bearing trouble with the Dana 80's.

Mostly the one on the ring gear side.

He has fixed some with as little as 15,000 miles on them. Says it is has been a problem for years.

Anyone else seen/heard this? I would think the amount of guys overloading their trucks on this site, there would be an epidemic.

I also got 275k on a dana 80 and not a lick of trouble. I'm not sure about the dana 70s , but the dana 80s are tough. I have hottshotted with the dana 80 grossing 26k to 34k without failure. I also wish I could say the same for the transmission, before adding coolers.

I have hotshotted for some time with my Dana 80 with no problems. I run Valvoline durablend 85-140 with some of that Mopar limited slip stuff.
