Just curios how the front ends are holding up on these 4"th generations.

I had the oportunity to run the wheels off of one last fall for 35000km and my only complaint was endless door squeek.

Now I am in the market for a new ride and ready to part ways with mt 05. My 05 has been absolutely brutal on front end parts and it is prob due again are the new ones holding up? The 05 has been bad enough to even consider a Ford believe it or not. My 99 was trouble free. American axle= crap!

I wouldn't buy a Ford if they gave it to me There Junk and a Nitemare to work on And so far the frontend's are Fine on the new truck's

I wouldn't blame AAM. I would blame Dodge for putting a 5,200lb axle on your 05, with front curb weight with a driver, and no trailer, is in the 4700-4900lb range. If you ever have 5 people in your truck and nothing in the bed you are over the front axle rating. That is why they fail. Now with a trailer hooked up I have yet to see over 4,800, but can easily see 5,300 with just my family.

These trucks really need a 6,000lb front axle.

Just compare part numbers on a 2012, and a 2005 on all the parts that failed on your 05, that will give you your answer. My 05 had lots of front end issues, my 12 is 2WD I think I made the right decision

They have, but the Crew Cab is also heavier. I am not sure there is any larger margin of capacity.
