I don't mean while driving in the rain or after washing your truck. What I'm talking about is the morning after a rain when the truck has sat over night, for that matter a few hours.
After my truck sits (only after being wet) the rear brakes are very touchy to say the least. I almost hit my head on the wheel the first time it did it. It's always done it a little but with 77k on the truck it's doing it harder now.

the rear wheels will almost lock up as soon as you touch the brakes at all. This is only for the first time or two you use the brakes. If you brake while holding your speed with the throttle for 20 -30 feet it's fine.

I know it's the drums rusting a little but I have never had this problem with any other car/truck I've owned.

My friend has a 97 1500 gasser that has done the same thing also.

any ideas,

My '91 150 gaser does the same thing. I have to stop on a down hill at the first stop of the day. The rear drums will lock up occasionally... more often on the dirt road at work. I always attributed it to oil contamination from when I had an axle leak.

My 93 Toyota did the same thing...

All my rigs have done this after backing the boat into the water and soaking the shoes. A couple light stops dry them out and everything back to normal.

Mike B,
That sudden grab at first is caused by rust on your disc because of the high carbon content. If you look at them after it has been raining and sitting just a few hour, they will be covered in rust. It wipes off very quickly when brakes are applied.

Mike B:

The rears on my '95 get a little touchy also, but I noticed the problem more so when the rear seals went out. Might be something to look into since it seems to be getting worse.

I also have this problem if it rains or is even a humid night the next morning they are really touchy. I also had a rear drum off the other day and the front shoe was about shot and the rear looked almost new. Is this the way they are suppose to wear?

Stubbe, per an article I read somewhere (i think on fritz's site), front pad change should occur at least twice as often as rears, so it sounds normal.

Mike B. I think most of us go through this from time to time. Mine does it but not every time it rains. As i remember my old chevy did some also. Pete
