I have a 2002 HO and a Jacobs brake. I can not get my hand behind the fuel filter to remove the plug to hook up the ECM wire.

The instructions say to remove the filter housing for 1998 and 1999 but for 2000+ the fuel filter housing does not have to be removed.

It you have done this, how did you do it?

I'm about to decide to put a switch on the shifter and control it myself.

Thanks,

Bobby

Yes, I tell everybody that pluggin that friggin wire in was the absolute hardest part of the job. There isn't an *easy* way, but what I did was unbolt the fuel filter housing, disconnect the rubber hose on the engine side, and kind of swing it out of the way. It's really not that bad when you do it this way... Just be careful when pulling the rubber plug out of the ecm harness, I accidentally pushed mine in farther instead of pulling it out, so I had to go dig around the house for a tiny needle which would fit in the hole to push the plug back out.

Bobby,

Take the 2 bolts, 10 MM out of the top of the filter housing and swing it out of the way like Murdock says, this will give you room to work... ... ... ... enjoy

I too removed the mounting bolts on the filter housing and found that provided fairly easy access. My biggest problem was getting the new wire into hole #20 adequately; it would seem to be all the way in, but would not function. Finally on the third or fourth try it suddenly went in about 1/8 inch further and all was well.

Thanks Guys,

I did everything else then looked at the ECM again. I noticed that the lines going into the filter housing all had a rubber hose some place, so I took out the 2 bolts of the housing and swung it out of the way. Then the plug was no problem.

This is a 2002 HO. I am going to enjoy this Jacobs brake. Now I have to install my 5th wheel hitch so I can go climb a mountain with my 5th wheel and try out the HO and the exhause brake.

Thanks,

Bobby
