2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission How do I know what rating the rear leaf springs are?

I need to replace my rear leaf springs. Looking at sites online, they appear to have multiple options for my particular truck, but they do list the capacity/rating of their spring packs (eg. - 2,470 lbs). According to the build code sheet for my truck, the left rear springs were code ZGRP and the right rear were ZVRP. Does anybody know what that translates into for weight rating for the spring? Obviously, since my truck is a '98 2500 HD, it has a 8,800 lb. GVWR. Also, I can't seem to find any info to verify this, but it always seems to me that the 2000 - 2002 4x4 trucks sit higher in back than the earlier trucks. Did they get different springs, or a taller block, or what?

Which site are you looking at? There are different combinations but the ratings pertain to how many leafs you have and if you have a helper or not. Measure the width and count how many springs you have, and check out this site it should help.

What is the width of your spring on the main pack and how many are there, and do you have a helper?

3 inch wide springs, 3 main springs plus one thicker overload on bottom, and two-leaf helper springs on top.

Main leaf pack is 1 15/16" thick. I think I've found a spring that matches. I still would like to know what makes the later 2nd gens sit higher in the rear.
