Has anyone ever done a dyno test on their truck pre-removal and post-removal? I have to imagine that the increaed turbulence created at the turbo inlet after removing the silencer ring could have a negative impact on performance.

Who cares though - I removed my ring last week, and I like the sound! I wonder how loud that turbo would be with the Psychotty air filter system. Hmm.....

Take off the intake tube to the turbo. Get two screw drivers, one small and one a little larger with a long shank. You'll see a gap in a steel spring band about 3/8 inch inside the opening. Catch the end of the spring with the longer screw driver and lift it out of the groove and then stick the little driver in there so the spring can't slip back in. Now take the longer driver, get on the back side of the band and pop it out. Then remove the aluminum ring the band was holding in by simply taking your fingers and pulling it out. That's all it takes.

Yeah there is a snap ring there you just need to pry that out, with 2 screw drivers and then the silencer ring will just fall out. Its sounds very cool!

As strange as it sounds, dont lose that ring or the locking clip that holds it in. If your turbo ever dies and you bring the truck in for warranty work, put the ring back in. They will probably try and say you "Modified" the turbo, which is BS but you know DC.
