PE4200... available?

Which Southbend is for me?

Just wanted to know how the turbo was working out for the people who had bought them and what size exhaust hsg you are using and what is the max boost this turbo can handle. Thanks

I just put mine on three days ago with 14cm housing . It spools up much faster then I expected and holds 38lbs of boost no problem. It has a strong winding or whistling sound that Ilove. I'm very happy with it. Also, my truck puts out over 450 HP and the turbo handles it no problem.

I too am very pleased with the turbo. I ordered it with a silencer ring and it still has the jet engine sound. I have to get an adjustable boost elbow because on the upper fuel setting boost is around 42 lbs give or take. I want to stay under 38 lbs. EGT's are slightly lower compared to PDRHX35 but the real test will be when I keep my foot planted with the higher fuel setting. Spool-up is very quick. I would say it seems to spool quicker than my PDR35 with the 14cm housing did. The turbo's response seems more like my HX35 with the 12cm housing. It pulls very well and turbo bark has been greatly reduced. I have only slighty barked it once. The HX35 barked daily with multiple loud bursts. I am very happy with the turbo and 14cm housing. I just hope the durability will be great also.

i love mine to waste gate is set at 45psi now and the truck is real fast. i should be around 440hp. i have the 14cm housing

Have you noticed any EGT drop while towing? If so about how much of a drop. I also want to add injectors after the new turbo not sure if I should anny up and get the PDR 40 I really want a quick spooling turbo and minimal smoke.

That's the one. I am very pleased with it. The claim to better throttle response is very true. It will spin the tires with a lot less throttle. I have to be extra careful in the rain now. :D

I made 446 with this turbo as a single. Then I changes to a 12cm housing and uased it in a set of twins. I layed down 503hp in this configuration and don't see but 1325 to 1350 degrees on a 0-120mph run.

It's an excelent turbo.

I would try one, but the exhaust side is the wrong size (turbine, turbine housing, and outlet), and the turbo as a whole is too small for what I will be doing with it.

No problem we stock over 1000 turbos so we have larger turbos also.

Well this turbo actually is more comparable to a hx40 turbo. It features the largest hx40 compressor side avaliable. What we normally see going from a standard hx35 12cm to this hybrid with a 14 cm is much more top end, 100-200 deg drop in egt's (post turbo) and about the same spool up as your stock hx35. Hope this answered your questions.

P. S. the temperature drop is an estimate, I dont have the numbers in front of me maybe someone could post what kind of egt's they saw before and after

McDowra: I've been real interested in this turbo also, You never said if you can get a TDR member discount, and is the 14cm wastegated a direct boltup, or does it need a hx40 downpipe and some changes for the wastgate assembly? Also what Hp range and max boost? Also it is listed w/o the housing do you replace it with your own hx35 housing?

At the moment there is no TDR discount but I am going to work on that Monday. You do not need a different downpipe, the turbo bolts right up in place of the stock turbo. Hp is 300-450 range with 45lbs being the ideal max boost. You can use most Hx35 housings the exception being if your wastgate bolts to the compressor housing.
