PE4200... available?

Which Southbend is for me?

I can tell you that I lost a solid 50 degrees up to about maybe 75 degrees pre-turbo with this turbo compared to a PDR35. I used the same 14cm wastegated housing on both of them. Running at the 300 rwhp level I won't get above 1200-1250 from a standing start. Standing on it above 60 mph will only get me to 1100. running at about 340 rwhp I see temps around 1375 from a standing start. I havn't tried above 60 mph yet. I usually run on the 300 rwhp setting so EGT's will never be an issue. This is a good turbo for the HP that I am running.

Im ordering on Monday but cant decide if I should use my existing 16cm non/wg housing or use a 14cm non/wg houseing... ... . any input? obtw I hit 1500*+ WOT so EGT is an issue... ...

Rjones if you decide to go with it report back and let us know how it works. And if you're boost # go up or down and egts also. I'm trying to decide on turbo.

Chris,

I am running 30-31 lbs of boost on the lower level and 35-36 lbs on the higher fueling level. This is with an adjustable boost elbow. I was running 35 lbs and 42 lbs with a restricted boost elbow. I don't want to have head gasket problems so I am conservative with the total amount of boost . I think the turbo is good up to 45 lbs of boost. I run with extra fuel only and no extra timing. This more than likely raises my EGT's compared to a fueling box with timing. Hope this helps.

rjones,

If keeping EGTs to a minimum is a big concern, the 16 will obviously do that better. I say run the 16 and then you can decide if it is too doggy and go to the 14.

If it helps order it with a 14 try it, if the 16 works better send 14 housing back for a refund. Hope that helps

I've been running my dodgezilla turbo for two weeks now and am way more than just happy with it. It is a much better unit than I expected. I am very pleased with it's performance.

Well,I finally got the turbo in only problem I had with this Hybrid seems that the the bearing housing was a slight bit smaller than the original by a 1/4 inch which made it a b**** to get in the oil return would hit on the the compressor side of turbo and I had to attach the return first then force the turbo on the mounting flange then bend the return line so everything would line up. Thats my only gripe..... however the performance is great less EGT,fast spooling, less smoke, and a higher mid range boost havent got it to full boost yet want it to break in some first... all in all on a scale from 1 to 10 Ill give it a 9 only because of the fit... .

OBTW It also blowing a little blue smoke now does it need some breakin time?and it will clear?

Maybe because mine is a 24 valve it was different. Mine went right in. Also, at full boost this thing really rocks!

It sounds like you might be burning oil. Sometimes this can happen for a little while when you change turbos out- if some oil leaks down in the exhaust. If that is whats happening it should clear out pretty quickly. You also might want to check your airfilter, you are sucking quite abit more air now and could be sucking oil from your air filter. If it doesnt clear up and its not the airfilter "cough cough" its possible it could be one of the seals in the turbo.

Feel free to call me if it doesnt clear up.

P. S. If im not there talk to Jason

Hope this helps

Well quite a coincidence but I was reading the TDR magazine and saw a article that Piers wrote about oil return line hitting compressor housing It said to pinch the snap ring on the back just enough to be able to rotate the housing from the brg housing to get the proper clearance I wish I would have see that article before I got the turbo installed.....

Rjones how is the turbo working so far? Mostly how do the egts look? McDowra do you think there will be a TDR discount? And is there a 16cm wastegated housing for this turbo?

I finally had the chance to open her up to put it plain and simple OMFG!!!! EGT is down @WOT to 1400* less smoke more power same amount of WOT boost but it builds boost alot faster.....

I just read through all the posts in this thread. I never found a definate answer, but will the housing off my stock turbo fit on the Dodgezilla?
