My neighbor has a John Deere Skid Loader, 2nd owner. One day the brakes stopped working so he took it to the dealer. Seems the Emergency Brake (electric switch) had stuck on (even though the switch and light were off) and he had run it until the brakes were shot. The cause was the engine mounts were broken causing the ground strap between the engine and chassis to break. Not only did it burn out the brakes, the chassis had tried to "ground" through the instrument cluster, burning it out in the process.
The dealer said JD had recalled it for bad engine mounts, but too much time had passed since the recall (and this one was never done) so they would not honer the recall.
At least that's how the neighbor explained it to me, anyway it cost him a ton of money to get it fixed.
