Lorenz, I'm surprised that you're only getting 75. My 99 YZ250 with 15/47 gearing and a FMF Gnarly pipe (that has no over-rev), and it runs about 80 and change, and it still has a decent hit off the bottom. Nonetheless, I'll probably have a CRF450X in my garage in the next week or so.

450X is a nice bike, more mellow that the R (which some like for offroad) and e button (which everyone likes)..... the x has much better valve seats than the pre 06 R's... . so valves not as much of a risk..... I just love the full power of a motocross bike offroad... . it's like the trucks, never too much!

If your ever in socal let me know, i'll let you ride the thing (and you can make an informed decision).....

Uh oh, the wife is not going to like this!

How close to San diego/Pt Loma are you? Did you regear it for the street? I got confused. I've riden my fair share of Yzf450/425's and CRF450's but not on the street.

What is holding you up on registering it for the road. Did the backdoors at DMV get closed?

I'm in Temecula, off the 15, about 45 minues from Miramar... . no nead to re gear, with the wide ratio transmission and stock gearing she'll easily do 100 (based off GPS)..... you can no longer register dirtbikes for the street in CA, unless it comes from the factory as a street legal bike... e. g. DRZ400S... . and they closed the Vermon Loophole... ... might be able to get away with it via out of state registration, but doubt it..... cant even seem to get a friggen green sticker for it!

Actually, there is still a means of registering an offroad bike for a plate. Go to www.joeracerproducts.com and they have a link to the DMV forms you need. Basically, you're registering a home-built bike (a 450X street bike is home made, right?).

Admittedly, I probably won't like the mellow power of the X. I'm used to a 2-smoke, so I'm really going to miss the hit, unless I convert some of it to R parts (and of course uncork it). Never too much, you say? What, you ride a modified CR500? Now that's too much!

Awsome, I'll check out the website... . hope it works!

I'll agree with a CR500 having too much! :)... . but only becasue it's on an old chassis... . if I won the lottery, I'd love the Service Honda CRF500AF... . that bike rocks!

I tried the home built with my RM250 for just an OHV sticker and no-go. They say I had to register it by using the frame vin and since it was Canadian I never could get even on OHV sticker

My 04 te240 is 232 lbs. All the Enduro TE's are within a couple lbs.

Now I looked at the website and see you looked at the TE-610. Its a true dual sport. Check out the TE-510. 238 lbs but its a race bike, that just happens to come from the factory with enough equipment to make it street legal.

I guess the TE-610 will be a better street bike then the TE-510, but the 510 will be a heck of a better dirt bike then the TE-610! The website don't show the turn signals that come on the enduro lineup.

Holly Smokes!!! I am in heaven. .

Every 2006 Husqvarna TE model is street legal. Yes, 100% DOT approved for street use in all 50 states. That means you can race it on Sunday and ride it to work on Monday.

I am so thankful for this DB thread, now just to scrape up a mere 7400.

After reading about the Dual Sport 610 I see it has a converter, wonder how the others make 50 state without one of those?

Before I commit though I might still keep an eye peeled for a grandfathered 525 that was dual sported before CA changed its rules... sometimes I hate this State.

250 450 or 510 all with magic button :{ how is a fella to decide!

Now if Honda made it, I'd be interested (yeah, I bleed red these days). Maybe the rumored CRF600X will be street legal. Maybe? I hope so!

I do beleve they are "stopped up" pretty well with throttle limiters, exhaust and air restrictions and lean jetting. They even have evap controls on them. but I here they come with additional jets and directions on how to remove the "stuff", in case you wanted to make it "closed course only" :D

My '99 WR400 hauls on the street. I have never clocked it but the handling and the brakes are sweet.

You can get kits to turn most bikes into dual sports as long as it has a source of power. Baja Designs

The new WR's are nice with the button and they shaved some of the weight.

Mine is licensed and insured for the street but I only ride it on county roads going to and from camp.

That would be sweet, but I can envision it well past 240 lbs.

I got 3 fullsize (CRF250, YZ450,YZ125) in my shortbed and it was packed with all the gear bags, gas cans, etc. I have a 2 bike Joe Hauler so theoretically I could get 5 in but where do you put everyone and their bikes? All I can say is "Well Done!".

I have a toyhauler and even though they are nice, it is a pain to unload, park, clean, etc when you get home. When you throw in the back of the truck, your unloaded in 15 minutes. The toyhauler takes atleast an hour if you don't use the crapper. If it's just me, I throw it all in the truck. When the wife and kids wanna go, it's the toyhauler and an aspirin...

I just got back from the Husky Dealer today and checked one out.

Man. . those things are tall, seat over 38".

In its off the showroom set up it should be a nice desert ride yet street legal to trail hop.

I however ride Rubicon stuff for fun, dual sports and an occasional enduro now days so was turned off by the height.

The forks can be moved up in the triple clamp and not sure how much more sag can be adjusted but looks like maybe you could bring it down an inch which for smaller riders is still kinda tall when use to a more common 36" seat found on other enduros.

By the time you add up destination, set-up, license and msrp you are looking at 8K. Hard to swallow but a Honda 450X is right in there too and it won't come with a plate.

The tank looked small and the dealer didn't know the capacity so range is questionable for a dual sport or enduro ride.

I think I still want one. .

MAtt400, I have not been on the 06. My 04 250 is not real high, but I am 6' with 32" inseam so tall bikes are not a problem. Keep in mind the Sag might have been adjusted correct. Sag should be 4" which might lower it.

When you move the forks up in the tripple clamp you are changing your rake angle. Pushing them "UP" will rake your forks back in, causing faster steering. Move them far enough "UP" and you can get the death wobble. (this is true on all bikes)

Its way up there, I am just under 5'9" and it's too tall for me. At least for tight woods and rock climbing stuff. In the Desert I wouldn't care. When I sat on it I couldn't touch both toes. It's higher than my 03 RM250.

Faster steering might be a good thing if the wheel base is longer than KTM EXC's for tight trails but we surely dont want any head shake at speed, scary stuff. What kind of ridding do you do with your 04 250 and how would you describe the power delivery?

I'm in Australia (sydney right now)... . and you can get 2 strokes rego'd out here... . have an 06 KTM 300XC-W waiting for pickup on Friday..... going to ride it out to Sunny Corners (about 2 hours from sydney) then ride all day and ride back..... it'll make for a long day, but I have to do it on principle... . 300cc of sweet 2smoke on the highway is just too good to be true!... . I'll post some pics after the trip... bout 10 guys going..... do this about 4 times a year..... have to make the most of comming out here to work..... now if I could only get a pic of "almost" hitting a roo (kangaroo)..... that would be nice!

re the husky... . I had a DRZ400 that was street legal (should have never sold it)... . and it was awsome on the street and good on the dirt... . but it was never going to be a motocross 450... . becasue of the weight... . the street legal ones are just too porky and they get you on the hills or when you dump em. that being said, I'm real sorry I dont have her still.....

If anyone ever wants a new bike (honda, yamaha, suzuki, kawi)... . let me know, I have the absolute hookup, price cant be beat unless you know the dealer... . I get absolutely nothing out of it, just make a call and tell them that person x will be calling them... . then it's up to person x to work through all the details..... it is from one of the largest dealers in San Diego and you wont be disappointed... ... as an example, my buddy just bought an 06 (the just out model) yz250f for 6,000 OTD... . thats $300 less than sticker and much less after taxes, title and rego... . if anyone wants the help, just pm or email me.
