4th gen wheels on a 2nd gen ram

A new approach to the well known front end problem

99 2500 just about 41K, 1 lift pump, 3 sets of front brakes, just replaced the shocks all around ( they were ok on road and when not towing... off road and or towing... not enough shock left ), transmission line, two rear transfer case output seals. 1 set of rear shoes ( about 30% left) and discovered one rear wheel cylinder just starting to leak. 1set of tires, finish on OEM chrome rims starting to stain with blackish spots - NY winter salt?).

150,000 and running strong. New in April of '99. Five and half years of good service. Commercial snowplowing in the winter, roofing contracting vehicle in the summer (frequently tows a dump trailer full of shingles), and occasional travel trailer towing to Florida and around Michigan. Not without some hiccups, but I've never worried at the start of a work day that this truck would leave me stranded. Knock on wood.

618,000 plus. converted from 5 to 6 speed. Had 53 block and it cracked at 226,000. 1 transfer case. 1 Head Gasket. Same vp44 , lots of LPs. Same turbo (35). Superchip has 300,000 on it. Ready to move up the HP. Need to step the clutch up. That will be up to Peter at SBC to decide which one I buy. Going for 1. 000. 000 before I park it, if even then.

Here we go again

Sorry but I had to ask, sorry in advance for digressing, but I don't know if I should have started another thread. For the guys with 150000plus miles, did you use conventional or synthetic motor oil ? Thanks in advance, Steve

127000 since I took delivery in May of 2000. Very short list of problems.

1 lift pump that i found out about at 96000, dealer replaced

1 AC clutch at 70000

1 CPS at 110000

I used conventional oil. Delvac has been good to me. I think the reason my VP44 has been with me so long is Howes fuel treatment. I did go thru alot of LPs.

I just rolled 31K on my 2002. 9

Only failure has been backup switch on trans (for backup lights).

The springs, DT bar, EZ, BHAF, Injectors, MAx-flow, etc are mostly for prevention and fun.

fuel tank sending unit

injection pump

fuel pump x 2

boost sensor

Shocks x2

Lukes link on the track bar

an injectionpump is in my not too distant future

Just replaced the clutch master and slave. Parts came from NAPA. 240 some odd dollars for PLASTIC!!! and no bleed screws! Thats BS. Took a week to finally get the air out after trying to bleed it 3 x.

New shocks and stabilizer this weekend. Bilsteins from ORW.

Love the shocks!!

114300

New tires last week. Bridgestone Blizzack w965's. Boy, don't she ride nice now!

I think I've spent enough lately, time for a break to let my wallet cool off.

Mileage

87781 Miles on the truck nothing has yet to break. Lost two bolts on the rear brake traction bracket that bolts to the shock bracket. Other than that runs like a champ. knock on wood.

On polls like these, it would be nice to have a feature where we could update our previous inputs and replace with the latest. I'm sure that the overall mileage average has increased somewhat.

77,000

1 lift pump

1 injector pump

1 thermostat

the pump failures, were from my mechanic not changing my fuel filters, like they charged me for! (3 times) and running out of fuel (my fault!)

2001 116000 one windshield, nothin else so far... ... ... ... ..... just ordered comp box, we'll see. Where's the best place to buy lift pumps?

191,000 miles Bought it with 129,000 on it from farmer who didn't take very good care of it. List thus far:

cracked exhaust manifold

belt tensioner bearing

one injection pump

three lift pumps

two sets o tires

rear brakes

front brakes twice

upper&lower ball joints

axle shaft seals

P. side door speaker & amp Assy.

74,000... ... squeeky front suspension has been the only thing so far. just tellin my dad the other day how this truck has just been the coolest vehicle i've ever owned, he agreed and this is coming from a guy that drives BMW M3's and if you've ever driven one of those you'll find it hard to say anything else is "cool".
