Update...

2001, took delivery in October 2000.... 62,000 miles as of October 2014.

Waiting for the chassis to rot away, leaving a sub-100k Cummins behind.

Well I guess I missed this thread for the last 13 years or so. My 01 is at 320,000. nothing major has gone wrong outside of a few lift pumps and a few vp44's. Other than that everything has been pretty much maintenance related. Ball joints x2 180k and 300k, rotors all around at 285k had a caliper stick and take one out so I went ahead a replaced them all, calipers all around see previous, ac compressor 310k, transfer case at 186k, DTT transmission 110k however original wasn't broken yet but wanted to do it on my time instead of in bfe, a map, iat, cps sensor at different times, a couple thermostats, a couple radiator pull and cleans, several carrier bearings within 30k of each other started around 180k but since then all has been good with it, two fuel sending units. This list does not include the stuff I have done to it over the years to make it "better".

2001 4X4 long box 6 speed 197,000 miles and running strong. Purchased used with 106,000 miles. To date no major repair been needed. I purchased a FASS fuel pump and installed right after purchase of pickup, also K&N air filter, Solid Steel Track bar and steering box stabilizer. New A/C pump and Brakes besides service every 3,000 miles is all I've done!
Well all good things got to come to an end, 200k rebuilt trans (Standard Transmission-Tuscon) new South Bend clutch, new transfer case input shaft, new ball joints and axle seals "front end".
Will it go another 200K?

270405 still running original vp44-looks and runs better than new as have done many upgrades -lived 10 years full time in 5th wheel never let us down--best truck I have ever owned-
truck sits in garage most of the time now as sold 5th wheel and went back to house. With much regret will be selling truck soon as to old to safely haul big rig.

2001 HO 6spd 2500. Currently 163,433. White and Grey two tone. I have owned my truck for a couple years now. They are an amazing truck for sure. I found used at a Dodge dealer listed on Craigs list, fresh trade in. Super clean old fart truck. I changed my cloth interior out with my 1998 Dodge 3500 4x4 V10 with orig 35,000 mi. Now its all Leather grey. Sold the V10. I loved it but man it was bad on fuel. When I bought the 2001 it was totally stock truck. Never touch or messed with. I pull a fifth wheel RV. Love this truck. I have upgraded the following.

Firestone Rear Airbags and on board compressor.
Airdog lift pump.
Stock and I think the original VP44. Runs great. Over 22 mpg at 65 mph empty.
Full gauges.
Ball Joints.
Brakes.
Shocks.
1 1/2 lift front. Just enough to level sag in front.
4 inch exhaust.
Boost fooler.
Rear back up fog lights.
Serviced rear diff.
Serviced Transmission.
Replaced passenger door, rust at bottom. Have the other rust free doors waiting when needed. No other rust found yet.
More to come.

Good to see a few of us getting the long haul from the VP44, 267K on my original VP44 and no signs of stopping yet...

Just found a small crack in dash, that sucks, it still looks new, going to try some gray epoxy to hopeful keep it from running! Other than that cosmetically still looking pretty good other than the black trim fading, think I will try one of the "back to black" products soon.

At the price of new rigs, I think I will be driving this old reliable truck until it isn't cost effective, LOL

2002 2500 4x4 HO 6SPD stock truck with exception of exhaust brake
228,000 miles (original owner)

VP44 at 87,000 miles covered by warranty
one starter contact kit - 150,000
one alternator bearing and brush kit - 215,000 (no failure, just maintenance)
front brake pads and rotors - 215,000 (still had 50,000 miles or more left, thanks to manual transmission and exhaust brake)

I just recently replaced ball joints, steering box, PS pump, vacuum pump, steering shaft, and added a steering box brace, and a fluid damper - all to give the truck a second life.

The truck has been very reliable and I expect it will continue to be so.

1999 2500 with 277,000 original owner miles
No engine problems with original Injection pump and injectors
Added FASS at 110k after replacing 4 lift pumps
5 spd trans replaced at 150k, then again at 270k.
Replaced power steering gear, shaft, pump and hoses at 275K, no more leaks

I just turned 115k the other day. One IP and two LP's. Replaced that with a fass a couple of years ago. Oh, and added a 4" exhaust system a couple of years ago when the oem just fell off. Other than that, no problems. I always have people coming up to me asking about the truck and making the "nice truck" comments.

152K so far. Told my wife to bury me in it.
Another day in paradise.

483k bought truck with 460k on chassis and 20k on trans and cummins overhaul, previous owner was a traveling salesman. Put an edge cts2 tuner on it right after purchase and, a fass system on it as soon as it came in, stock lift pump would bottom out at 1-2psi on stock power levels. Other than that just u-joint and a 4wd actuator, stupid factory unit seized and left me stuck in my driveway :(

Gotta say this is the best truck I've ever owned!!!
