I am very curious. I think I am about to try to find me another Dodge Cummins and do this. Probably a '94-'96 reg. cab w/ a 5 speed. I saw the new 49x21/16. 5 Super Swamper tires and I am imagining all kinds of things to do to it. ;) I use to have a '78 3/4 ton Ford with 44's and I had a 17" susp. lift on it. I am thinking it might take a 23-24" lift for the Dodge. I will probably swap the front coil springs for leaves and install a set of 5. 38 gears.

Any comments will be helpful here.

Yeah, I am thinking that no one can help me here on this site. There is a guy that I had done some work on my old Ford and he has grown to have a big off-road shop now. I guess I better had give him a call and see what he says. I am planning on doing the work myself, so I didn't want to waste his time or **** him off by not getting any business.

i was here at indy where that pic above was taken those trucks are awesome. the 49 inch irocs are insane. do you plan on doing this project on your own or do you plan on having a shop do it? pm me if you are looking for a shop to do it. I know first hand a shop that is exellent for lifting trucks that high

Dang, went site hunting and found a few trucks with the 49's on them and they are HUGE!. I was wanting to do some road cruising, but it seems that a lot of guys are saying that they will wear out quick because the rubber is so soft. I may end up with some 40"- 44" Groundhawg tires. They would probably be more practical and I would get to play a little too.

Man, I can't get over the size of those 49's. :--)

my old truck had 44's. i had tsl super swampers and i liked how they drove on the street. good in rain, and normal driving. I wouldnt run ground hawgs because they are horrible on pavement. . Are you sure you want a truck this big? alot of things break, and the truck will need alot of attention and monthly checking of the lift. lets not forget the local laws in your area  . State police waited for me after i got off of work to bust me for front bumper height , rear bumper height, tires sticking out of the wheel wells , loud exhaust, etc , etc. when they see you they see a jackpot :-{} . A truck with a cummins IMO has no need to be lifted more than 6 inches. My old truck had 12 inches of total lift with cut-out flares, it was a 88 ford f-150 straight axle convo (dana 60) and a ford 9" rear. gearing was 4. 88 w/ 44's c-6 trans and a 351 bored and stroked. Nice truck, but man it required alot of work. P/S. . 7 mpg just came to mind. Also never going over 50 because it would be screaming... Your friend will get ****** off you can never drive unless you wanna show off to get a girl for the night. (keep in mind i am 18 :D ) Then when you get a girl she will want to drive it... . just say no, i said yeah and she hit a 6" curb and scratched up my rim :{ :-{} . sorry i got long winded. Big trucks are awesome to have but be ready for what they are, be ready to work, be ready to clean. Dont go offroading 24/7 you will spend 1000's in repairs like i did. :D . good times

I know where you are coming from. I have been there too.

My old '78 Ford 3/4 ton had 17" of lift and 44's and it was a diesel. It had a 6. 9L in it with a C6 auto and 4. 10's. I got the truck when I was 16 and had it for 5 years. I loved it. Drove pretty well and it would run 70-80mph with no problems.

Yes, I know the maintenence that is involved. It is not going to be my dailey driver.

Thanks for everyones comments.

i live near elk grove village, illinois. if you dont know where that is i live 15 minutes away from woodfeild mall. Where can i find these airbag suspensions w/ 4 link??

Really it all depends on how much sheetmetal you want to remove! If you want to use all the sheetmetal, good luck with the front drive shaft, unless you want to rotate the t-case.

I have run 36" on my 75 with just a 4" rough country kit on it. I had to trim the front fenders to allow the tires to clear while turing and flexing off road.

Got a buddy with 44" swampers on a bronco chassis with a ranger body on it. I am 6' tall and can walk up and sit my chin on the bottom of the window and look in the cab. He used king coilovers and claims he would like to lower it a little to make it more stable. He uses it strictly for off roading. I have watched him lots and can't understand why he would lower it but, he built it and knows it better than anyone.

front driveshaft problems

Yeah i heard the reason why there isnt lift kits for the new hd's is because of the transfer cases/ driveshafts breaking. I have no problem because i live right near a 4x4 shop that has a t-fer case indexing method
