Competition Nowel's memorial---where to stay

Competition 2003 TIM video wanted, do you have it?

Yes i was going to gut it like a race car, for example just run box skins and door skins and fender skins. just the bear necessity's anything i have to do to make 6200

And then they wonder why I had come up with the rules I had when they asked for "street diesel" rules. I'll ask this and only can wonder what the answer will be... ...

"How in the blue blazes do you expect to make this setup fit into fair pulling where most all trucks are driven in tagged and street driven daily?"

Sheesh.....

With rules as loose as this I somehow see Sled Puller making more trips into the great white north to pick some fair pockets and maybe even Rob's. I agree with Gene also, they all run real well after 50G's are spent at your local favorite diesel shop..... Andy

The great white north... . Well you see the tracks are mostly frozen with snow on them till the 3rd weekend of june. Then everything thaws, grows, and the 4th of july happens. Then about 2 weeks later it all refreezes... ... .

Ok on the serious side... . The local (anoka county fair) is just the center of the grandstand. Nothing special. The tractors usually do pretty well, I haven't had a chance to watch the trucks yet. I belive it's just a dirt/sand/clay base. I don't remember if it was last year or the year before, but they ran for about 30 min in the rain before it started to get to slippery.

The tracks of the great white north

Guy,

The track that i pull my tractor at are hard pack sticky clay and the occasional black dirt or co-op parking lot. Josh last time i ran at anoka this past summer it was a pretty healthy clay track, very sticky out at about 275 real loose at the line. As for the tires i ran my pro comps at a brush pull and got 4 th in an 8000 class that was a dirt track. and you said something about the BFG AT's they have to tight of tread pattern in my opinion, Pro comp AT'S aren't much different but they do bite harder. the only thing you have to watch is tire width if you go to wide you just spin like the strokers i beat up. with 265 Michelin's under 1/4 tread i out pulled a chiped and turbo'd storker. he ran 315/70/16's or 35/12. 50/16 same thing. from my wisdom that i have gathered up over my few years, the wider the less traction you get, To a certain extent. Right guy? anyways i'll look in to the tire thing more i have a buddy that works at West side tire, one of the biggest tire suppliers in the 5 state area, Josh might have herd of them. if they don't have it or cant get it in a week you don't need it.

Thanks

Andy

TurboTweaker:

Here is a quote from Joe Dailey about weight:

You can lose ALOT if you really want to. You just have to creative. But if you still want to drive it and be comfy... be careful!! My 94 reg cab 4x weighs 5800. That's with ladder bars, u-joint shields, loops, big pulling hitch, etc. Hello gas class!!! Rick, 6300 shouldn't be hard. My 98 reg cab 4x weighs about 6400, that's not stripped with a half tank of fuel.

I would say most definately go with the 2nd generation. He has got some good deals on pulling parts too.

Hammer:

Who cares? I say strip it, make some crazy hp, paint it some obscene color or either make it look like a beater and f&$% those fords up!!!

You won't have to gut it, my 95 ext. cab weighs @ 6000lbs. I would'nt gut the doors, fenders, etc... . you'll regret it later and it'll give people something to complain about. Keep it stock appearing and tagged, theres plenty to take out... . Gene, who has billet heads for sale? any info available? Thanks

keith could you please explain how you have any input in fielding a competitive pull truck? Please give examples of ANY competitve pull trucks you have fielded. Also give the wins to losses you have.

Thank you Brandon, just a poor wanna be

F8LDOSE: I can neither confirm nor deny that this company is supplying the billet heads for the Cummins puller crowd.

They have a very strong following in the tractor pulling community - it would only make sense that the Cummins/Dodge crowd follow in their footsteps.

This is only speculation at this point - but I got my money the folks mentioned above.

Looks to me like Kieth's post only commented on the availability of the 12v to provide adequate power, which just about everyone agrees on. Nothing particular to pulling. I also see that your 'Pulling Truck' is a 12v?

How should i build my pulling truck? I want it to make 6200 lb class so i can play with the gassers at the county fair. what motor should i use? 12v or 24v. what turbo, cam, tst plate or chip, head, injectors. you guys get the idea? i need to make one hell of a cloud of smoke and make the 275 mark. money is no concern, but power is.

I am NOT an experienced puller, but seeing that you are not getting much in the way of specifics, I'll throw some ideas around.

12v 215HP pump, 3 or 4k GSK, 370 diamond B or DonM injectors, zero plate, head ported and o-ringed, ATS manifold, HX-50 class charger, dual stacks, pulling clutch, ladder bars, big worn tires.

Pick your gear carefully, and play with tire pressure for fine-tuning of traction.

Ain't no gasser gonna pull like that one and SMOKE shouldn't be a problem! Oo.

Andy let me finally stress the real point. you want to build a truck for no class. If you think they will let you dominate a 6200lb gas class you are mistaken. You will pull a few times and then you will get the boot. Diesels need to pull in their own class, if they dont have a class then lobby to get a class. The difference between gas and diesel is apples and oranges. good or bad it doesn't matter. I love the gas classes as much as the diesel class. Build a truck that can compete in a recognized diesel class. Our rules in California are close enough to east coast rules for me to get my truck back east and pull. This is just my experiences with many people that I know, it doesn't necessarily mean it will happen to you.

Best of luck to you Brandon
