I’m looking to lower the height of my 2000 2500 4WD to prevent anymore contacts with it and my goose neck dump trailer. I did see where dodge had a kit to lower the rear spring stack, but when I asked about it at my local dealer I was told it was no longer available. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Jim

Depending how low you want to go you can get rid of the axle spacers, find shorter ones or have yours machined down add proper length u bolts and your all done.

If you have a local spring shop they will make anysize u bolt u need and can probably handle the spacers as well

I have contacted Firestone about a similar cituation. I am looking to add airbags to the rear end and remove the lift blocks. If it works the way that I hope, I will be able to lower the rearend to 2wd height to connect my trailer then raise it back up to level.

I'll let you know when I do.

go to an off road truck place. they will have or be able to order thiner blocks and u-bolts. my truck was too high to tow my 5er so they took out the 5 1/2" block out and put in a 2". works great with the 5er but when i load the camper i will have to put some bigger block back. the airplanes are tired of my head lights. robert

Thanks for all that replyed. Does anyone have a good lead on the airbags and about how much they would be? If I use airbags, will they replace the block between the springs and axle?

Jim

The air bags can be used to bring the height back to stock if you just got rid of the blocks. However it may make the ride stiffer I dont have them so i Dont know for sure

air bags are $200 to $300 with a manual valve stem, add another $250 for on board air compressor. I think on board air is the way to go. I did it just for horns (1 & 2 gal tanks tied together). I did not buy bags because I have the camper pkg, I added blocks for the campers springs to work sooner. I have a tag w/650# tounge empty and carry up to 2500# in the bed. I have no GN or 5er to be concerned with height. I only know I drop 1" w/trailer and 2" with bed full at the rear bumper. Bags will keep your stock ride when empty.

i just put airbags on because i got a truck camper. the truck squats when you have a heavy load and you put air in to level your truck. they make the ride stiffer. you realy know that if you forget to let some air out whe not loaded. they were $500 installed-firestone brand. air shocks might help but i doubt it as your springs are hd. i think air/spring seats like the big trucks have is your best bet. hope this helps robert
