What's the difference. Getting ready to do twins, bought a used PDR twin kit without the turbos. Thought I'd get a new Hx40 or a good used PDR40 and a ht3b or bht3b, not sure what the PDR kit comes with.
 
Got a good used PDR40 on the way. Now I just need the big turbo. Think I'll just buy a PDRht3b and call it good. I wanted to save a little dough, but I htturbos jump the price of the bht3b on me. There is less than $100 difference in the price now between pdr and htturbos.
 
Just got a stock HT3B off of ebay for 247. 00 shipped to my door. It has the 26 exhaust on it. That's what I will be using.

Man, I saw those on ebay, I was about to bid on it. I emailed him and asked him about the exhaust housing size, never got an answer. I searched ebay this morning, I couldn't find any now.



I'll check out the one in the classifieds, that's where I seem to buy everything anyway. I want one with 26 exhaust housing.

Did you ever figure out the USB. Last time I heard you thought there might be a problem with the wastegate.

I looked at the waste gate and it was fine. My truck made 50 psi with it and it was still slow and ran real hot. I knew I needed to oring the head so I could mess with the timing and maybe some water injection to cool things down. Looked at my money pit, and thought it would be a great idea to sell the truck and get out of hot rodding diesels. Then I thought I would just sell the hot rod parts and just use it for a work truck. So I sold the turbo, injectors, DVs, and my nos kit(never wanted a bottle baby anyway)... . Now I'm back and spending more money than ever. :) Told the wife I would sell my KX250 to offset the cost.

I'm going with Jeff Prince injectors, and let him do my pump tuning. He is awesome with the 180 pump.
 
Thanks for letting me know. I am sorry it didn't work out for you. It was a poor turbo for me also. Same symptoms. I figured it was just my truck being weird. Hope you didn't loose as much money on it as I did. I have a Dodgezilla top turbo on my setup. It works ok. I can make alot of boost, but the hp is still kind of low. I think I will eventually get an hx40 and put it on top. Good luck with your project. I have talked to Jeff a few times. Wish I lived back that direction. Seems like alot of great places to get parts and help. West coast is alot harder. Pdr is great, but way north of me.

I didn't loose much on the turbo. I had made a pretty good down pipe, I thought anyway, that I threw in, and I paid for shipping. My plan was to spray a bunch of nos into my motor to get it to work. Found out that I don't like the stuff.



I'm real excited about my truck now again. I always liked the idea of twins, just didn't want to spend the money. If I would have done twins in the first place, I would be money ahead. I'm buying used stuff where I can, and doing a lot of price shopping. I'm gonna see if I can get started on it in a month or so and take my time.



Thanks Ron. I'm glad you got your truck up and going, sounds like a really cool set up. Maybe we'll meet up at a diesel get together, I'd like to talk to you some more and check out your truck.

If you bought a used kit minus turbos, you shouldn't need much. Probably won't take more than 2 or three days to do. The part that took the most time on mine were the oil return lines. The only part I could use was the flange. After I got done I bought a small bender. If I had done that in the beginning, it would have been a piece of cake.

My ats manifold is cracked, so I need to send that off to see if warranty will cover it. I need to oring the head and might get the head ports polished and a valve job if it needs it. And my intercooler is leaking, need to take that off and have it fixed. Oil pan gasket is leaking alittle, I hate leaks. Lots of little stuff to do on it. I'm guessing my truck will be down for a few weeks. I love working on it, just not non stop.
