I thought my fan was just loud, but I think that it is stuck on recirc. When I switch back and forth between outside and recirc, there is no change in the roar in the dash. Very loud and obnoxious, and not much air. Anyone else have this happen? I'm hoping it's not the mixing door that has come up so many times.

AMink-

Unfortunately it sounds like your "mixing door" has broke. My "flapper" just broke however I have 50% air going to the floor in all AC settings... . which means the flapper is hanging by a thread. I was talking with a service manager last weekend and he told me you could break it all the way and the results would be recirc. all the time. I was simply looking for a temporary quick fix until I had time to leave my truck with the dealer. Apparently its fairly easy to reach up there and break the lever to make it stay in recirc. mode..... which I would prefer over the air to the floor. Good luck!!

Turn your blower up to high, if it makes a vibrating noise then it's a sure bet it's got a busted recirc door (there will be a piece of the door rolling arround in the squirel cage). You can also easily remove the blower motor and look up at the door.

Nope, no noise at high fan. It will switch back and forth between feet-dash-window, but won't get out of recirc. At least that's what it sounds like. There is no change in the fan sound no matter where I set the air to come out. Very loud at high, pretty loud on low.

I'm off on Friday and hope to take a peek up in there.

The door that goes between floor and defrost is another section, seperate from the the recirc door.

I would take out the fan and check. It's on the passenger side under the dash and only has 3 or 4 screws and 1 connector holding it in. Takes just 5 minutes. You can use a mirror to look up at the door. It breaks at the drivers side end. Dont pull on it like some body else I know did!:eek: :{

Pulled the fan, the door was just laying there. I'd like to pull it out until I can get to the dealer for a fix (don't know if I want to disassemble the whole dashboard), but I can't get it out through the fan hole. :mad: I'm trying to figure a way to block it so it's not on recirc. Fun stuff.

Keep trying... ... ... ..... it will fit,you just need to get the right angle of the dangel

Duct tape. Should hold til tomorrow when I get it to the dealer. All of a sudden my HVAC seems to work MUCH better!

Well, they put in a whole new unit that holds that door. Seems to work better now. Now I wonder if the A/C is as bad as I thought it was. Not sure how long the door has been hanging by a thread before it broke off. Also got the high idle enabled. Not sure what I'll do with it, but sounded like a good idea. Kinda bummed me out that it cost $46 to do it. The trucks should come from the factory with it like that.

P. S. - On the way back to the dealer from the rental car place, a lady was going to the Ford dealer across the street. Her 06 PS F350 was in the shop again. Two rebuilds, multiple leaks, flashes, etc. All in 20,000 miles. Her hubby was out looking at GMC's and Chevy's. I asked if they had considered the Dodges. She said they looked at them when they got the Ford and weren't that impressed. I'm thinking they'd be more impressed now.
