Years ago (like 15 or so) I'd upped the fuel in my factory 175 hp engine with a #5 plate and 215 injectors and installed a HTT Stage 2 turbo kit which included a 8 blade 60cm HX40 compressor wheel and compressor housing .....I was seeing boost levels at 45 plus lbs and didn't have the funds to spring for a new turbo. Since the stock exhaust housing only relives the rear 3 cylinders I drilled out the divider with 1-1/16 bit and opened the pressure relief port hole to I believe 1.25" an installed a larger exhaust port valve. The larger valve is an exhaust valve from a old lawn mower engine. The result being no noticeable loss of power or increased egt's and now max boost is mid 30's.

I'm still running the exact set-up above and while I can easily upgrade these days, the modded turbo works and meets my work truck needs. If I ever find a CHEAP BD twin set-up I may go to twins. Time will tell.

This is what I'm looking into, except I'm looking at either using my HX35 or possibly a HX40 on the top end with a small primary like an HT3b and possibly a smaller housing than the 26 most of them come with. I'm not interested I'm making big power or running big injectors, (no more than 100 horse) I want better flow while maintaining good spool up, so it will be a small series either way.
