Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) hx40 question

have a buddy who just bought a 01 auto with the seals in the turbo going bad and leaks oil i think into the intake side, he wants to replace it with a hx40 and wants to know if the hx40 has a plate on the back of the exhaust housing that can be swapped with the cast elbow plate on the back of the hy35 so it would be a direct bolt in other than a t3-t4 adapter.

or can i also use a whole 12cm housing off of early hx35 and i know the v band plate and elbow plate enterchange on them

You will need a HX-40 down pipe

The HX40 outlet is 3. 25" for a 4" pipe whereas the 35 series has a 2. 5" outlet hole. Get a HX40 downpipe and clamp.
