I can't find the screws I am looking for.

I am currently finding and installing the options that I would have ordered, if I had ordered the truck .

2004 quad cab 8 ft box auto 4X4

I found the transfer case skid plate and the cross brace. The brace goes from outside of the frame to the outside of the frame. It uses 4 bolts that have tapered points and look like they are self-threading.

Anybody know what the part number is for that bolt ?

Shortly after I drove my 03 home I immediately replaced the shocks and bolts, the rear was so bad there weren't bushings, just the shock eyelets for the bushings bashing the threads on all the bolts. I went to a local Ram dealer and they wanted approx. $48 a bolt, didn't come with the nut. I went down the road to Fastenal and got hardware for the front and rear for less than $20.

We used that style of bolts in some assembly applications. If they are the style, I think they, are they are not self-tapping instead they are designed for use with air assembly tools on the assembly line. The bolts should screw into weld nuts or threaded weld blocks on the frame. The assembler does not need to preassemble the bolts instead they just put the bolt into the fastening hole with the tool and start the assembly process. The bolt will self-locate into the threads without cross threading. At least that is the theory behind the use of that style of bolt.
