Mark, yes, it was the original First Gen motor.
The truck only had 60K original miles & the thought of buying one that I didn't know the history just didn't appeal to me.
It's a very expensive conversion unless you have a 2nd gen core laying around. Many parts have to be changed... injectors, injector lines, throttle linkage gear cover, cam gear etc etc.
Piers did this conversion & I just decided that I didn't care what it costed... I wanted the most reliability & power & that meant P-pump!
Everybody has their own idea of what a First Gen truck is & I had absolutely no problem installing a p-pump & calling this truck a First Gen. I consider it a much bigger sin running propane than changing the device that injects the fuel. Why would it be less of a sin changing turbo's for example?
The clutch is a South Bend FE & it's lite for this application.
I think a twin disc is the answer but I've heard so many problems with them that I was hoping they'd get all the bugs worked out of them before I needed one.
Next project... . well I have a company truck on the way so I'm apprehensive to do too much crazy stuff to it but it's not in my nature to drive it stock! :-laf
